Jetpurple-Burbank To Shangai, Seoul And Singapore?

Thu Oct 15, 2015 12:08 pm

Am I reading this right????? A new start up will target Los Angeles (and phoenix) First and business class passengers, they will set up shop at Burbank and Scottsdale. I assume by setting up shop at Burbank, they will steal high end flyers away from the airlines at LAX.. The headline's title is

"Phoenix And Los Angeles' First And Business Class Airline Passengers Will Get A Disruptively Better Choice, On Select Routes, Starting In 2016"

"SCOTTSDALE, Arizona, Oct. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- JetPurple debuts its nascent airline brand identification music video at its newly updated website and announces plans for six scheduled passenger airline routes for 2016. For greater Phoenix, short haul flights will operate four times a week on each route between Scottsdale Airport and San Diego, Las Vegas, and Puerto Penasco. For greater Los Angeles, ultra long haul flights will operate four times a week on each route between Bob Hope Burbank Airport and Shanghai, Seoul, and Singapore.

Logo - http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20151013/276524LOGO

All routes are FBO to FBO (Fixed Base Operator) meaning that this commercial scheduled passenger airline travels from private terminal to private terminal. JetPurple is basically "private jet travel for the public" as the company's new slogan proclaims. The announcement of six routes for service commencing in 2016, follows JetPurple's first scheduled public charter route of commercial passenger airline service which launched on May 24, 2012 between Chicago's Midway International Airport and Manistee, Michigan's Blacker Airport."

Silly of SQ to wait until 2018 and fly LAX-SIN on the A350-900LR... Turns out they could do it now with a 737!

This has to be some college student's mocked-up wepage design project or something.

To be fair, Seoul, not Tokyo, is the larger O&D market from Los Angeles.

Well, here we go again, Adam Blumenkranz, a younger, more clean cut version of Barry Michaels, I actually wish this was some college kids project gone wild, sadly, it isn't.

Just a little background, Adam has been pitching this for about 3 years now, every now and again he sticks his head up a little to high* and gets slapped down again, really, IMHO it's the same move as Family/Avatar, skim a little investment $$$

*In 2012 Blumenkranz was busted for lighting up a joint on a B6 flight, he did have a medical MJ card, but you know, federal law and all that silly stuff, he then turned around and sued B6.

It's actually sort off sad, one of his friends and college roommate offered him the chance to start a business together, Adam turned him down, the friends name is Eric Lefkofsky, he founded a little website called Groupon.

I don't think there's any debate that not only this idea is stupid, but the guy is stupid too. Take a look at the "JetPurple Airwayz" twitter page. It's all about legalizing marijuana. I'm not going to get into a "it should be" "shouldn't be" debate, but it's clear this guy is a complete tool.

And if you're sincerely going to start an airline and want to be taken seriously, don't spell "Airways" with a "z" at the end. This isn't Soul Plane. Or maybe it is...

Joke or otherwise it is a bad plan. FBOs are not equipped to handle incoming passengers in the hundreds. They are set up to handle corprorte jets and the occasional sports team charter airliner (busses standing by on ramp) without Customs/Immigration hassles but 200-300 pax dropping into any FBO would be disaster.

There is no suitable luggage retrieval, rent cars, public transport, toilets, etc. People want to pretend and good for them.

To me, this looks like a boondoogle put together by people who are far more talented at developing web pages than I am but clearly have no business being in the airline industry, or even the charter or business jet industries.

Why does one of the cars on the freeway in the embedded video say "JETBLUE" on the license plate? I assume this has to be a giant joke, right?

Their first aircraft has rolled out of the paintshop, and you can see that the crew are proudly displaying their new uniforms. Should be a great addition to the SkyTeam network! Maybe they can codeshare with the newly relaunched TWA (http://twabooking.com/)  https://images.rapgenius.com/cd5aaabd08f1529054a1035a00b424a6.1000x563x1.jpg

This is all one big elaborate joke due to the fact that the CEO is upset that he got arrested for marijuana on a B6 flight so he's making his "airline" the anti - JetBlue.

Anyone with any brain cells knows that this isn't going anywhere. The website, video, and press release are all incredibly amateurish. I'm shocked that he's gotten several news outlets to believe that this is actually something that may happen.

I know AF1 has taken off and landed at BUR, but could a 747-8i with enough fuel to fly BUR - SIN / SEL etc. even take off?

I am LMAO because it brings back memories. Feels like freshman year at business school all over again. One hotshot always proposes the "trillion dollar idea" only to be smacked down with a nice D- grade for their efforts. Then again, FedEx supposedly had no chance of working either.
