Who still flies the Russian Jetliner Ilyushin Il-62s and how many are still active?
The plane had a production run from the mid 1960s to the mid 1990s. When did
Cubana retire theirs and what ever became of the one that had engine problems
at Santo Domingo.

The Cubana one was ferried back to Havana, but I believe it is mothballed now.

It seems that the only Il-62s that are available for 'normal' (as opposed to VIP) passenger use are those with Air Koryo.
I understand that they can no longer be flown into Beijing because of noise restrictions. However, exceptions can be made for VIP delegations.
However, when I was at FNJ last month, there were two Il-62s departing within a couple of hours of each other to Moscow. I don't think the Moscow flights are regularly scheduled, but they fly when there is a specific need such as a delegation of sports folk or school students.

As far as I know P-885 is the only Air Koryo's frame still flying for the airlines. All of the others are flying for the government with different a livery. At least two are wearing the title "DPRK" in Korean on the fuselage and the Air Force logo on the tail. One is wearing Air Koryo cheat line without any title.

i think JS has retired them from normal scheduled ops, therefore no IL6 are officially flying any more for paying passengers. however JS still operates joyride flights on IL6, but this is not the same as a regular service between beijing/shenyang/vladivostok and pyongyang... same situation for their IL8, TU3 and TU5...
as far as i know this leaves no bookable IL6, 2 bookable TU5 with alrosa and one bookable TU3 also with alrosa. all the other ones are actually gone by now (katek avia and tsentr yug TU3), or not bookable to "normal" passengers, for example the gazprom TU5. gazprom has also retired it's YK2 completely, leaving SarAavia, Grozny Avia, Kras Avia and IzhAvia as YK2 operators. maybe we will see B2's TU5 for charter ops to burgas and varna next summer season.... but this is unclear... yep, russian airliners are becoming rarer with an ever increasing pace!

Deta is gone, shut down already 3 years ago, all il6 either scrapped or stored for ever. One i think was refurbished not too long ago and wears "trust air" titels, with kazhakh reg. But it also is on storage and offered for lease, maybe even being a combi, since the ones of deta also were combis. Deta was based in shymkent i believe. I also don't know how much the kapo freighters are still in operations, saw them 2 years ago in dme...

Yes, correct.
I was at FNJ again on the same day of the week (a Friday) a few weeks later, and there were no flights to Moscow on that day. The difference of two Il-62 flights made a huge difference in the busy-ness of the airport on the two Fridays that I was there.

Don't forget: every Sunday Tomsk-Krasnoyarsk with Turukhan (former Katekavia) for just 30 Euro (1999 Rubel). This Tu-134 flight is bookable on agent.ru and sirena2000.de
This summer I flew with Gazpromavia between Sochi and Moscow/Vnukovo with the Tu-154 for just 70 Euro. Sometimes you can book Gazpromavia with the Tu-154 on the web (2 Tu-154 in service at this moment). I also flew Centre-Yug Tu-134 this summer (Samara-Ekaterinburg-Nadym-Ekaterinburg-Samara) on a Friday. Unfortunately they are now out of business. Don't think they will be back in the sky. Don't forget Gazpromavia Yak-40 flights between Nadym-Sovetsky-Ekaterinburg and Vologda Enterprice between St. Petersburg-Vologda and Moscow-Vologda. Including the AN24/26, SSJ Superjet and Tu-204 you will still have a lot of fun in the CCCP.
