That engine looks like it was made for the 380! I know I know

I don't follow closely enough. Can some one tell me what the current monthly production rate is, not delivery rate.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the photo was that if Airbus put three more engines on it, you’d have the A380neo. Or maybe call it the A380TXWB. Done and dusted, as they say in England.

That engine is way too heavy to put on the A380.

The XWB 84,000 lb - Version for the A350-900 is however lighter and better suited regarding thrust. Size is nearly identical. Furthermore there are constantly rumours about a stretch which would benefit the A380 in several areas (Cargo, Tail-size, Weight/m²).

Even the XWB-84 is 1 tonne heavier than the T900. That's 4 tonne of weight right there (four engines).

Any info on MSN 12?

Unsure of it's present location or state, but Handover to Delivery Centre appears to be 14th December, but I would imagine delivery mid-late January (2nd delivery of 2016).

But given the A380's weight of about 275t EMPTY it's about 1,5% weight increase for at least 10% lower fuel burn. Togerther with a possible stretch I don't think that's the main point. Even the A330neo get's a weight gain of >2t from the T7000 engines!

Anyway it's about the A350 here. Someone taking a gues how much will be deliverd this year and especially in 2016?

Okay, not much different to the second year of the 787 (65 in 2013, but 46 in 2012 and 3 in 2011), given the somhow artifical start in 2011.

I'm surprised someone does not know this just off the top of their head.

Anyway, I took a look at Spirit deliveries to Airbus, to try and answer my own question.

2012 3 shipset deliveries
2013 8
2014 16
2015 Q1 6
Q2 9
Q3 8

So total of 50 so far, and 23 so far this year. So add another ?9 for Q4 and we have 32 for 2015, average 2.7 a month.

I realise it is most unlikely that this is the current production rate, but must be indicative to some extent.

Regarding 2016, if you extrapolate the graph of shipset deliveries, and it continues in its current upward trajectory (lets hope so), then I estimate about 48 in 2016 or 4 a month for shipset deliveries.

Also learned on a blog spot that the 350 production facility is designed for 13 a month, and that Airbus is planning a production rate 10 a month 4 years after EIS.

Also that TC is not happy about the slow ramp up because he can not get the info he wants on the 350.

The aircraft is out of paint with still two months to go for delivery... I guess it must be interior completion related? The Leeham article above gives a fair idea of the issues.

MSN13: FF 08-10-2015 -> Delivery 21-11-2015, about 6 weeks between

//Edit: Just thinking, if you meant days between transfer to Delivery Center to Actual Delivery you might be right, I don't have the exact numbers right now, but MSN13 wasn't at the DC that long I believe

This is good for QR, they had early stated that they were targeting 6 A350s in 2015, but they have 7.

When is the next one set to join the fleet? A7-ALH I presume. Heard that they expected 1 per month in 2016.

From what I have heard, QR is likely going to start their second daily DOH-JFK route earlier than March 2016. The flight will be operated by the A350. An announcement should happen in early December.
