TG 747 F Class Retrofit

Sun Nov 01, 2015 10:40 pm

How many of TG's 744s have the new F suite configuration? Also on which 744 routes does TG only sell J but give J pax the option to sit in F besides PVG and HKT (unless things have changed?) Thanks.

6 of the 12 744s have the new F (9-seat) configuration. The other 6 have the 10-seat configuration. I don't know the full answer to your second question. HKT J pax can sit in F if there is availability. ARN and CPH, when scheduled with a 744, are routes that have, in the past, had F cabins sold as J. The ARN/CPH-BKK flights are currently not scheduled with 744s (and as a result, do not have F cabins), but the ARN/CPH-HKT seasonal flights are scheduled with 744s, so those F cabins are sold as J. Those seasonal flights do operate the return leg via BKK, so for BKK-ARN/CPH, there are a couple flights a week that have F sold as J.

It's been months since a 744 has been regularly scheduled BKK-HKT or anywhere domestic. It's purely 777s and A330s now.

The 6 retrofitted 744s are HS-TGA/B/F/G/Y/Z.

Several sites including UA are showing the 744 BKK HKT the week of Christmas. Is this a seasonal upgauge or a mistake?

Surely not many months because it was the case last august.

Yes there have been some 744 services, however since about September last year domestic 747 services have been a rarity compared to the norm before that. I logged 6 domestic 744 flights 2013-2014.

Yes they will seasonally upgrade flights closer to Christmas, generally though you will not get one BKK-HKT OR BKK-CNX save for seasonal upgrades or one off substitutions. Keep in mind Thai have parked 6 or so 744s since last year so the current fleet is utilised a lot more than 12 months ago. It wasn't uncommon for a 744 to do 2-3 domestic turns and sit until mid evening and go off on a long haul.
