New Product On EK B777

Sat Nov 07, 2015 4:43 pm

Emirates will introduce new “innovative” features on their Boeing 777-300ERs (extended range) from late 2016, a senior Boeing executive said on Saturday.

"Some of the new features Emirates has been looking at for [their 777x’s] will be delivered on their airplanes (777-300ERs) by the end of next year but not all of them,” John Wojick, senior vice president of Global Sales & Marketing at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, told reporters at a briefing in Dubai."

I knew from a radio Interview with Tim Clark that there will be 32' screen ( largest in the field ) for First class and new screen for economy which made them change the seat too.
In addition to the bedroom concept for first class that was discussed last year. They also in process of reshaping the interior of the A380, to be leader in the aviation industry for their customers ,, Tim Clark said.

I think the new economy screens are out. On Emirates latest B777 and A380 the economy class seats are white and a bit larger.

Might this include Power Ports for all seats in Economy on the 77W's different configs, if they don't already?

A new Business class product would be a start, the 777s are horribly out dated.

If I am not mistaken the 32" screen is already equipping their A319CJ, I doubt bringing it onboard other mainline fleet models would not come without some re-design to the F/C suite as we know it today !!

What???? I thought EK's amaaaaazing J product was reeling them all in   EK could really use a new J seat, and probably fewer of them.

Maverick was being ironic.

Emirates would indeed do well to announce and install an all new J seat aboard their 777 fleet instead of promising 'amazing, innovative and yuuuuge' new features.

Nobody needs a two inches larger screen retrofit in an outdated seat.

The Emirates J seat on the 777 is now already one of the worst in the industry and simply updating it with useless crap is not going to make it great again, it needs a total redo with another configuration and better quality materials. I doubt they will get rid of their tacky fake gilded faux wood style stuff that, frankly, is the greatest eyesore I have ever seen; but a middle seat is absolutely unacceptable these days.

Emirates could really take an interior design cue from Etihad who has come up with elegant tasteful interiors. EK is fine in Y with the existing color palette and dune motif on the cabin bulkheads, but their furnishings in J and F are just tasteless. Gaudy, showy and tacky - the complete opposite of Etihad.
Look, it's been swell, but the swelling's gone down.

The Emirates 777 business class is outdated compared to the competition. I know that don't want to install a high quality business class since it would hurt their first class similarly to why lufthansa was a late adopter of flat seats in business. However i think they need better seats. Delta and United have flat seats that are better for sleeping than Emirates.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

I have never gotten this about EK. They were one of the first to go 10 abreast in Y, and finding a fully flat J on them is almost impossible. Why does everyone talk about it being so nice? Is the soft product really that great? I've flown many different carriers, but probably won't fly EK anytime soon due to alliance handcuffs.

It's quite a coup--EK still has managed to maintain this aura of incredible luxury when in reality it is quite average outside of maybe F. The ME3 have "succeeded" because they are cheap, not because they are fancy, which is really the bigger achievement here. They've democratized travel in Y for hundreds of millions of people who couldn't have afforded it otherwise--it's far more incredible than whatever silly new F they may or may not develop.

I too do not get EK's J product in their 777 fleet. You basically have an airline that spares no expense in their overall product delivery, yet their J product continues to lag behind a good portion of their competitors. It makes no sense. They are on a mission to be the world's "new Pan Am", but their mission will take much longer, with 2 x 3 x 2 seating vs. many others 1 x 2 x 1 in J Class. Even worse, they just seem to be ignoring the issue.

That makes a lot of sense. I fly UA a lot, which apart from having their own sea of issues, does always provide me a flat bed, usually for me in a 2-2-2 config. This is fine for me. But for the many destinations o go in the world, I often see people coming off of Emirates who seem like they wouldn't normally be traveling so widely. It's interesting that while most carriers have abandoned Y, EK actually makes money off of it.

Smaller seats!

Maybe they will trial an area of the cattle section where those looking for a dirt cheap fare get a space where they can just stand with others in a padded cage like setting?

EK have two quite different product experiences, which market research has, and is increasingly, highlighting (mirrored on ANet). A380 and the rest of the fleet. The announcement is about narrowing the gap, upgrading the A380 a little, and the rest of the fleet more.

It's going to take something above and beyond to surpass Etihad's new three room suite which includes a shower no less. Wonder what those will for?

Not sure if your response was suppose to be sarcastic, but last I checked, DL's operating costs are higher than EK's. If DL can make money (along with the many other carriers that do 1 x 2 x 1 in J), surely EK can.
