According to LH-Taufnamen.de they're receiving 6 in 2016.
The first one, HB-JNA, arriving on 31 January 2016 and then approx 1 per month until July.
Nr. 7 and 8 in 2017 and nr. 9 in 2018.

No premium economy, but a preferred seating zone, where seat reservations are more expensive...

Flew with Swiss last month and they had a long article about the 777Ws in their inflight mag. 3-4-3 in economy and basically the same First and Business as now with some minor improvements plus a self serve bar in eco.

I'm predicting a white fuselage with a red tail carrying a signature white '+'. But how cool would it be if they rolled out numero uno in a retro livery? Not the one with the brown stripes (that can be saved for number two), but this one:

### RE: LX 77W Delivery Schedule?

Legally it would be possible since LX holds the formal rights of the 'Swissair' brand.
In fact there is a LX-flying club who operates a couple of small aircraft with a Swissair 'livery' to keep the name up in order to prevent losing the rights to the brand.

In practice I don't see this happen.
I strongly believe there are far too much open wounds in Switzerland which will be opened if a Swissair-branded aircraft passes by at ZRH.
Many ex SR staff lost a lot of money ( retirement plans, savings etc ) when Swissair went under.

As a lover of beautiful aircraft I would love to see it happen though

I can't see why Swiss would roll out their first T7 in a retro livery. The delivery of this new plane should be an oppertunity for them to market the new direction they want to take the company. Looking back while looking ahead st the same time wouldn't make sense.

Would it be worse? I mean seriously, SWISS in whatever carnation it is now certainly wasn't run like a champion in the past. See posts above regarding hurtful feelings. Look at Air France, Alitalia, Olympic, and more, would it not be terrible to hand over the reigns to high schoolers against airline professionals who failed miserably and ruined lives? Anyways, it's not a livery that made these companies, by any real world standard fail, it's their inability to read the market and respond in a timely manner.

So what is the purpose of all the expenditure on a retrojet? I bet it doesn't attract any more clients than a strike chases away...

A retro livery will never happen at LX. Try to go to www.swissair.com. They do mention they have "nothing in common". The wounds are still wide open for many ex-employee. Swiss, while being a good airlines isn't as much consider as SR used to be. And it will take years until so. Plus there are still in the process of being liquidate. So I think it won't happen. They might paint it in a CROSSAIR retro livery though...

Define "all the expenditure".... are you claiming to know the cost delta between that and their standard paint job, and how those costs balance against the combination of increase in tangible benefits (e.g. revenue, if any) + intangible/indirect benefits (increase in brand awareness, free advertisement, word of mouth, etc)?

Obviously, there's some benefit there-- or nearly every major airline wouldn't be doing it, or have done so for decades, even during market downturns.
I myself, suspect a more prosaic motive... ~Thranduil

Fully agree. And Swissair is still hated by many people in the GVA area for largely abandoning GVA in the mid-1990s when they moved all of GVA's longhaul flights (except JFK) to ZRH and also dropped most of GVA's European destinations.

It made sense to focus on a single stronger hub at ZRH in a small country like Switzerland but it didn't go over well in GVA when they suddenly had to start connecting at ZRH rather than flying nonstop to many destinations as they previously could do.

### RE: LX 77W Delivery Schedule?

The 77W will look great in LX colours , but the problem is that there 's going to be a lot if white and just one short word in red - "Swiss" - so something to relieve the monotony of that would be good!

Looking down the road , does LX have plans for the rest of its WB fleet ? I know the 333s are relatively new, but with 77Ws in the fleet , 789s might be possible down the road?! I guess it depends on what the rest if the LHR group buys, but 787s would probably make sense for OS and SN too.

### RE: LX 77W Delivery Schedule?

787 has already been ruled out by LX. It's gonna be a decision between more B77W or A359 CEO HH said.

Now I see two scenarios for the replacement of the 6 A340s.

scenario 1:

They will order as many B77W as they need for their cargo and premium heavy routes. The rest is gonna be A359 and also for the A330 replacement between 2020-2025. The longhaul fleet could look like this: 12x B77W / 18 A359

scenario 2:

1 to 1 replacement. 15 B77W and 15 A359

But in the end we will have to see if LX evaluates the A330neo. But it's questionable if they go with A330neo if they ruled out the B787 already.

### RE: LX 77W Delivery Schedule?

Am I right to say that LX's decision to go for 77W, and get their Swiss Global Airlines guys to fly them, upset quite some of the airbus pilots within LX?

The reason I ask is, they are training people on the Jumbolino at LX Global Airlines to fly the 77W, and those Jumbolino crew are somewhat less experienced, and less paid than the mainline's airbus pilot?

I am considering to go with LX to HKG in May when they will have moved to 77W operations, flight from MAN - HKG are similar price with EK, but lots quicker. Any hesitation from anyone to try out the LX 77W?

### RE: LX 77W Delivery Schedule?

I might be wrong, however at the time when Crossair, the former operator of the regional fleet, was operating them the quality of the pilots hired was not on par with SR at the time, there were also two crashes one with a Saab 340 and one with an Avro in a short time. However I am sure that by now the standards for both pilots trained on "Swiss Global Airlines" and "Swiss International Air Lines" are on par.

Nothing wrong with Emirates, however if you are willing to fly with them you can be sure that if you go for LX when it comes to safety you will be in very good hands. It is known that the crews on EK are a mix of many nationalities and different cultures and the group / team dynamics at least under the F/A's are often not too good, hence in a real Emergency situation I don't know how efficient the situation will be handled. Regarding the cockpit crews, I really hope and probably assume the group dynamics are better.

For the airline's sake, I hope the airline and the two different pilot unions come to their senses to put all arguments by side and be a truly united swiss national airline. I'm pretty sure LX Global and LX International pilots see themselves as one united airline and also want to be one.

The selection and training of the pilots is exactly the same. LX is really an airline where you shouldn't worry about your safety at all.

Well it was about time! When booking ATH-LAX i considered Swiss as I like the airline, but I did not want to fly in their A340-300's as I thought their interiors would be too worn versus the British Airways A380. When they introduce their 77W's I would consider flying them on that route!

Would have been nice if i manged to have flown with Captain Luciano Covolan from Justplanes though!

If you want only positive comments, maybe a Forum is not the right place, try Company's web site advertising or a fan club.
I am another of the (long time) LX customers not being thrilled of the change, for what is worth.

That's not the case, but it seems on this forum that about every 777 thread, of any airline turns into a 9 vs 10 abrest discussion where the same people start the same discussion again and again while they know that they will never agree.

Yes, unfortunately. Horrible looking IMHO - way too much Kindergarten for a "quality airline". With this you can't take them serious anymore.
Actually thinking of cancelling my flight aboard the 77W on Feb 08 because of this.

Very true and well said! That combined with the outdated low cabin pressure and high cabin noise volumes shows that LX doesn't care about the customer at all.

You are thinking of cancelling your flight because of some sticker on an airplane?
And at the same time you tell something about "Kindergarden" ?

Are you serious? It is just some some "plastic" on an aircraft.
And depending on the airport you fly to or the gate which is used you wont even see it because of the non-glass jettys.
