Has Anyone Ever Been In An Emergency Evac?

Fri Nov 13, 2015 2:14 pm

I just watched a video of the gear collapse and runway excursion of a Shaheen 737-400 from November 3.

It got me thinking, I've seen threads about people coming close to being in accidents, but I've never seen anything about evacs.

Has anyone here ever been in an emergency evacuation on a plane for any reason?

When I was 4 on a flight from JFK-MAD and one of the engines went on fire after and hour inflight. Amazed still today how if I realized what was happening I probably wouldn't like aviation how I do today!

I believe an A.net member was on AF358. If you search for old threads you can probably find his posts.

Yes, I was on an EA flight in ATL many years ago.

Fascinating experience -- everybody OK except from minor bumps and bruise (plus torn trousers) going down the slides.

Airport services were excellent -- everything accounted for, including the return of my paperback book from the seat pocket!

Report "ATL90IA126" (June 1990) from FAA describes in general what happened -- to us it was a bit more dramatic!

Note that there was no grabbing for carry-ons -- we just got out as quickly as we could due to smoke in the cabin
I love to fly, and it shows!

Yep, on a Pan Am 722 at MIA back in the eighties, uneventful but the plane had 4 deadheading pilots up front and the crew also, we were like 70 PAX on the flight so nothing weird happened .

It is Eddie Ho, he mentions it in his profile and commented on it in several threads.
