BA Livery News 12

Mon Nov 16, 2015 5:54 pm

Part 11 was archived.

Any updates to report?

I believe G-BLNW/X were retired last week, bringing the total number of 747s to 41.

Two short haul 767s due for repaint in December. Long haul config aircraft will be doing domestic and European flights as a result.

The BA paint shop at LHR has been closed for maintenance since 19 September. The schedule was for it to reopen on 4 December. So there have been no aircraft returned to service after being repainted since 744 G-CIVS was rolled out in Union Flag Crest livery in mid September.
.
However since the temporary closure of the paint shop three 787-9s (G-ZBKA, 'KB and ;KC) have been delivered and two more ('KD and 'KE) have been rolled out by Boeing in Union Flag Crest livery. A380 G-XLEJ has also been delivered. Finally 744 G-BNLF, already in Union Flag Crest livery, was rolled out with additional 'dreamflight' titles in mid October.

The paint hangar was being used to clean out G-BOAB this month. Lots of magazines for recycling I hear.....

I am guessing you mean G-BNLW/X. Yes both these aircraft were ferried to CWL on 06NOV. I believe they will head to the desert in the next couple of weeks. I believe this leaves only G-BNLF in service with the old first. This aircraft is due to be retired in early 2016. This will take the fleet down to 39.

Does anyone know how many BACF aircraft are now in the union flag crest livery?

All of them, it was just a sticker or similar that was rolled out across the fleet a while back. G-LCYS and onwards came with them applied on delivery in the brilliant white colours.

'YS, 'YT and 'YU were actually delivered to BA and then ferried SJK-REC-TFS-STN in Union Flag White livery without the Crest. All three then had the Crest added at STN before final delivery to LCY.

Sorry to be pernickety. But this explains the existence of several photos like this:

Has the plan to use longhaul 767s on UK and Europe flights been cancelled?

Is the paint hangar still not being used for anything but general maintenance? Nothing being resprayed in Madrid, therefore nothing has been repainted this year?

Despite much searching I am unable to find the thread on BA registration meanings...

The A320neo fleet will use the G-TTN* sequence and the A321neo's G-NEO*.
