Quoting ANA787 (Reply 77): PDX had an amazing year 2015. Here are my PDX predictions/hopes for 2016. Feel free to add yours. |
Quoting zmatt1 (Reply 100): Any chance of DL giving AS a run for their money at PDX? Maybe more service up and down the West coast or Hawaii? Ot are they pretty much committed to developing SEA? |
Quoting ANA787 (Reply 108): Will AA be running mainline aircraft PDX-LAX? |
Quoting ANA787 (Reply 108): Wonder if UA will jump back into the PDX-LAX market |
Quoting ANA787 (Reply 108): PDX-LAX has 5 carriers now? |
Quoting ramprat74 (Reply 119): I still can't figure out how this improves AS space from what they have now. They're going to need every D concourse gate that Delta doesn't use for their daily operation. |
Quoting ramprat74 (Reply 119): I think United is getting the better deal in this gate swap. |
Quoting RWA380 (Reply 93): |
Quoting pnwpdx (Reply 121): Well this could get interesting... I hope we don't loose our Delta to Tokyo-Narita flight. This flight is very convenient whenever I fly to Asia. http://www.oregonlive.com/commuting/...ght_to_asia.html#incart_river_home It would be a huge loss if they got rid of this flight. |

Quoting Airnerd (Reply 124): Personally, I'd love to see Alaska and JAL seize the opportunity of Delta's predicament and partner up to bring JAL flights from Japan to both Seattle AND Portland with codeshares on the whole AS and AA route network. I think that could be a huge hit, and a major blow to DL in their skirmish with AS at Seattle (and to a lesser extent Portland). They've got 763ERs and 788s, both of which could work well on the Portland route, while a 777 would be a hit in Seattle if JAL provided full AS mileage plan miles (unlike DL). |
Quoting intotheair (Reply 123): I know we talk a lot about MFR but EUG is also seeing an influx of passengers. 2015 was a record year, and passenger numbers are up 14% in the last five years. |
Quoting lhpdx (Reply 127): If the Port of Portland were smart, they would start early negotiating with ANA or JAL..It wouldn't hurt to include some added incentives to guarantee profit for at least the first year. |
Quoting bjorn14 (Reply 122): Not true. An airport can hire their own private screening firm. IIRC, 6 airports have private companies but they have to be TSA approved. |
Quoting ramprat74 (Reply 126): UA has E1-E4 right now and will be moving to C3-C9 . |
Quoting UnitedFlyer (Reply 128): I am a frequent user of MFR, but I love seeing the growth happening at EUG. What is the status of the terminal expansion? |
Quoting intotheair (Reply 131): So UA is dropping their number of flights to PDX, ie ... the elimination of PDX-IAD & thy ae taking on more gates? That makes zero sense, I wonder what the plan is? |

Quoting ANA787 (Reply 133): Looks like condor will be adding MORE frequency for this coming summer to PDX-FRA. August and September PDX-FRA will operate 4x weekly. LH left a goldmine. |
Quoting pdx (Reply 132): They're not eliminating PDX-IAD, it's just hit and miss. You can book it in the summer. UA's a mess! |
Quoting ramprat74 (Reply 134): IAD will be back in the Spring. UA will use C3, C5, C7, C9. |
Quoting RWA380 (Reply 141): According to the 6:30pm news on KGW, PDX is now on the chopping block for our NRT flight, with DL trying to push their HND agenda. I have searched the KGW & Oregonian websites & found nothing, it may come out in tomorrows paper. As we've speculated here, I'd suspect if indeed DL leaves, which could happen, I think JL would jump in with a 788 & some sort of AS tie up. |
Quoting pdx (Reply 142): So they're mad about HND slots and taking it out on PDX? |
Quoting Airnerd (Reply 144): My hopes for this situation: 1. DL and Japan figure it out and keep the flights going. 2. JAL, Alaska and AA team up and bring JAL metal to PDX and SEA with access to full connecting networks on AS and AA. Frankly, I like option 1 only because it is less disruptive. Honestly, if there were a way to get option 2 going quickly and smoothly, I think it would actually serve the region better in the long run. |
Quoting ANA787 (Reply 81): PDX has a lot of new service coming in 2016! |
Quoting RWA380 (Reply 85): Seems you may be speaking to the same people I am, you are correct some nice things are planned for PDX in 2016. |
Quoting RWA380 (Reply 99): Yes, Portland will see growth from AS in 2016, It's my understanding that we won't need to wait too terribly long to hear of additions in the Portland market, AS is ready to retain their title of #1 carrier at PDX for decades to come. |
