Most Recent WN Station Adds

I'm curious about what were the last two or three stations added to the WN network, when they were added and what routes were served. I can't recall any adds so I am simply curious.

No, not really, Air Tran was a bit of a different thing. It certainly brought some new cities to the network. Maybe that's why I can't remember any cities WN has added.

Belize, Liberia, San Jose, CR and Puerto Vallarta were all added this year.

Domestically, I think the most recent non-AirTran adds were GSP and CHS in 2011. I know GSP started with BNA, MCO, MDW, HOU, and BWI, but is soon to be ATL only. I believe CHS started with BWI, BNA, HOU, and MDW, and has added DAL.

Pensacola (PNS) was added in late 2013. It was a former Airtran station, but I believe Airtran had left well before this service was added.

Nope. PNS had FL service to ATL up until 11/1/13. Then on 11/2/13, it became a WN market with service to BNA and HOU.

Thanks for the info. It becomes clear why international service is important, there isn't much growth left in the US (i.e. not many new cities left to add).

If CVG was that important to WN, they would have added it already. I'm not saying that it isn't coming, I'm just saying everyone is always talking about WN adding CVG but year after year Southwest ignores CVG so it clearly isn't important to WN.

Thanks for the clarification. I remember there was as issue since ECP had a distance clause when WN started up there which lead to some discussion if WN would start PNS or not, so I thought there was a bit of a gap.

Since you are based in PNS, any feel how WN is doing? I notice the HOU / BNA schedule has stayed relatively unchanged since they started.

I don't claim to have any insider knowledge, but from what I've seen they seem to be doing marginally. L/F's are still a bit weak, though they have been trending up. Compared to FL's service to ATL, the connection options of BNA/HOU aren't quite as good....particularly since there is only 1x per day to HOU. They did add the seasonal Saturday-only MDW-PNS which is coming back again in March, so that's a small positive sign.

My guess is that they'll hold on to PNS for the time being, but if times get tough (oil prices rise, economy dives) PNS would likely get axed.
