From the old PSA schedule, it used to say:

Lv FAT Ar SCK

As a young kid, it read like "Leave fat, arrive sick"

Two years ago, before Silver Airways dropped their flights to Macon, I flew MCO-MCN-ATL to log Macon before it was too late. I thought it was cool that I flew between two cities whose codes were next to one another in an alphabetical list of airport codes.

Can anyone think of another route where there are nonstops between two airports whose codes are next to one another in the alphabet?

Sembach was a Military airfield Close to Ramstein, there was never any Commercial Service. It was direct adjacent to a Military Hospital which is, correct me wrong, still in use. It was and Ramstein still is used for MEDEVAC flights. Sembach's runway is broken up meanwhile Fraport never had any dealings with Sembach. Fraport financed an additional runway at Ramstein, in lieu the Ar Force vacated Rhein-Main Airbase.

Fagurholsmyri, Iceland has a pretty offensive one, but "bad" words have different meanings in different countries so it really is dependent upon whether the code is "bad" in its own country to a large extent.

What's so offensive about cigarettes? :-)

The Icelanders borrowed their meaning from the next island to the right I suppose. :)

Paducah, Kentucky used to have the code, PUK. We always referred to it as PUKE. After a while, it was changed to PAH.....don't know if that was because of a new airport or they just changed the code.

I guess so. The first itinerary in #114 is a nice, tight triangular route...while the second is a more leisurely trip meandering around the world before the climactic end - favored most by a.nutters

Image
http://www.gcmap.com/map?P=HAV-SEX-WHL- ... 0x360&PM=*

But there are major problems with the globetrotting cruise :!: ...the arrival point of the first segment is now just a heliport, from where you will embark on an ULH segment to the second "facility" waypoint, thence another long-haul segment to a very short runway in the Pacific Northwest, then a westbound TPAC segment to its East Asian finale. :ugeek:

:? Anyone thinks the "Island Hopper" is way more practical :?:

What year did that ghappen? I thought DIA, BAL & IDL were the only ones that the FAA had ever changed.

Bullhead City/Laughlin used to be BHC, but got changed to IFP, and I never found out what the reason was.

HVN - Heaven ;)

This thread makes me giggle and remember my days as a student pilot. In the Sim we had that instructor who'd always position us on Hamburg departure to fly towards FU NDB. He celebrated Foxtrott Uniform (no, he never called it "Fox Uniform", naturally) so hard and made us fly towards the fix way too often just to have his fun. Silly old boy.
