The airline Intersky marked in July 2015 two different records: The return flight of the Albanian football club KF Skënderbeu Korçë from a Champions League qualifier in Belfast to Tirana over a distance of 2682 kilometers in 5:25 hours was, according to the airline the longest commercial non-stop flight of an ATR 72-600 by distance and time. It surpassed its own record in November 2013 by 189 kilometers and 2 minutes from Friedrichshafen (Germany) to Krasnodar in Russia over a distance of 2493 km in 5h 23min

VIE sees MS with the E-175 (or is it an E70?) for CAI, which is about 3h something. now this is something VERY challenging for the embraer...

also we get airzena with the CRJ to TBS, which is something like 3:25 h and with a full load also challenging the capabilities of the CRJ.

most probably there are some CRJ and SSJ routs in russia even greater than these. i believe angara also flies their an-148 over very long legs, but their schedules change every once in a while.

never the less i can assure you that with a full, and i mean a really full load with ZERO margins left to MTOW, 3:25h is the maximum a rj can handle. longer distances will come at load restrictions!

It's funny how in the US people generally really don't like the ERJ-135/145.

In Europe they are so rare, last year I managed to fly the Eastern Airways ERJ-135 from SOU-LBA, it was such a treat! The 3 across config is excellent, having a window and aisle seat all to yourself. I remember people on the flight baffled by how small the plane is, I guess everyone in Europe is so used to the 737/A320!

I would put my money on UA across the board. A lot of long haul markets considering their route map and the fact that 73.8% of their fleet is ERJ-135/145.

You post a fake percentage and call regional jets owned and operated by regional airlines as part of the United fleet. You are only here to post inflammatory comments to troll nothing has ever changed.

The longest E175 flight I can think of on any carrier off the top of my head is SFO-STL on UA clocking in at 1,735 miles.

And to think I almost booked this segment just to log an E175...it was the A319 and that was unbearable, I can't imagine an E175.

Didn't they have a EWR-DEN flight on the ERJ-145 at one time? I don't see that one on their timetable currently, but I do see EWR-OKC which is nearly 4 hours on an ERJ.

United still flies ATL-DEN on a CRJ. Couple that with their sky-high fares out of Atlanta and from me you'll get a big "nope."

Don't think I saw AUS - SFO.

I flew on a UAX CR7 on this route back in 2012. It's somewhere close to 1,600 miles. Gate agent ended up asking people if they could take a later flight due to weight restrictions. That's quite a haul westbound on a CR7. I enjoyed it though!

I much prefer the AC Embraer 190 used on the AC routes previously mentioned to the A320 or 737. Never having to worry about winding up in a middle seat is a big advantage.

To keep their seating below 100 BA CityFlyer's E190 cabins are configured with only 98 seats (C/Y) most with a 34" pitch, all 18.3" wide. Seats 2C and 2D and the four seats in Row 12 (over-wing emergency exit) have even more leg room. However Seats !A and 1B have less leg space.

On the other hand all the seats on CityFlyer's E170s have a 30" pitch. This is the same as in BA's A320s.

1. CR2 (and it's not even close)
2. CR7/CR9
2. ERJ-135/145 (only because of A side seats)

I completely agree. From a passenger perspective, the CRJ200s are awful and I avoid at all costs on routes where the potential of being stuck in one for longer than hour comes up.

That's not even B6's longest route on an E190...they also fly JFK-AUS with this type and have even flown JFK-SDQ and JFK-STI before. All of these routes have flying time of > 3.5 hours, but there really is no comparing an E190 to a CRJ or even a ERJ. Heck, I'd rather fly a route like this in an E190 over a six-abreast Airbus or Boeing mainline jet.

10 years ago, there was an obscene amount of 1000-1200 mile routes on CRJ-200s and ERJ-145s on all of the legacies - CO, DL, UA, NW, AA, US.

CO was flying ERJ-145s to markets like IAH - DTW, MDT, PIT, BFL, etc. EWR-OKC, DSM, MSP all were common
NW was flying CRJ-200s on MSP-IDA, SLC, ELP, etc

There are far fewer routes of these lengths these days but some are still around. The evolution of more CR7/CR9/E70/E75s are now on these routes, or due to hub consolidations/mergers the need to overfly hubs with low/thin routes is less common.

I believe the longest scheduled Q400 run right now is Porter's new seasonal YTZ-MLB flight, 1073mi.

Hasn't United done IAH-IAD in an RJ.

Yes - It's mentioned in Reply 64.

Actually, pmCO used to run a late-night 145XR during the business week and an afternoon 145XR on Saturday.

RE: Longest RJ Flights By Aircraft Type And Airline

Wed Dec 09, 2015 11:13 pm

AC Jazz currently flies the CR2 from YUL-YYT, about 1040 miles. Maybe not the longest, but definitely not enjoyable.
My worst RJ flight was a AC Jazz CR9 from YUL-IAH. Almost a 5 hour flight with a cranky 2 year old sitting on my lap! Very painful!
Give me an E75/E90 any day over the CRJ's!

Exactly how are we classifying "RJ" here ? Just the 50-seaters, or all the way up to E195 ?

Just my .02 but I would consider the following as "RJ's":

a) CRJ's - all models (100/200/700/900/1000) - same seat widths/configuration
b) ERJ's - all models (135/145)
c) Avro's - all models
d) 328's - both prop and Jet models
e) EMB 120
f) ATR's - all models (42/72)
g) Q Series/ DHC - (100/200/300/400) (DHC's)
h) Beech 1900
i) Antonov 24
j) Dornier 228
k) Fokker 50/60
l) Xian M60's
m) Pilatus P12
n) SSJ100
o) EJet E170/175 but not 190/195 (just an opinion)

Please feel free to add any I left out.
