The perlescent white and the tail motive are really good.
The Alitalia logo in the front looks way too small. On a longer plane, like a 777-300ER, would look even smaller.
A billboard would have looked better, in my opinion.

In my humble opinion, the logo is intended to look hyper minimalist and classy in sharp contrast with low cost carriers like Ryanair and easy jet which have huge logos covering most of the fuselage. Less is more.

Very tail-heavy. The old livery had more quality.
Those white stripes in front of the tail do not add anything, they just make it look cheaper.

Also, seems the front angle of the triangle on the tail is different to the angle on the fuselage. Not well executed.

That might be true but many top quality airlines have billboard logos: Emirates, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines to name a few. And they are not confused with low cost carriers.
Mine is just an aesthetic consideration. I´m not judging the reasoning behing the design.
On some italian forum there were some custom liveries, done by some users, that looked way better (as it´s often the case). I am surprised that the new Management (basically Etihad) wanted to impress a deep change in corporate image but came out with a livery which is just the third edition of the one worn since 1970.

Although the livery is nice, it is a missed opportunity to bring something really new.

Looks nice...

But, I also think the titles should be a little bigger and above or on the window line. Below you can hardly see the name, on the left side it is covered by the jetway and on the right side it is close to the foward cargo door.

I am not a fan of the airline name below the windows line, I'd rather have the Alitalia name placed a-la-Emirates, larger and below and above the windows, or just above the windows as it used to be....the rest looks smart.
Let's see how this will look like on the -300ERs once they are delivered.

First, "ALITALIA" is in the wrong position. Needs to be above the windows. Tail looks good, it's a pretty iconic logo. But hey, if you're into "Euro-white" bland, it's a pretty good motif. I would have expect a tad more umph from the artistic Italians. As long as their service is better than their 1970s product, they will be fine.

Alitalia has no 777-300ER on order.
There were rumors of some, possibly two, examples being loaned by Etihad but nothing has come out of it yet.
II I remember correctly, Alitalia has no outstanding order of any kind and a small long haul fleet of 24 machines (14 A330-200 and 10 B777-200ER).

They should have stuck with outgoing cheatline livery and just added metallic paint and on engines too. not a fan of the italic title.

What could be more Italian than that?

Alitalia should be bigger and higher up on the aircraft. Should've done something like Turkish.

I like it, looks classy. Billboard titles tend to be associated with low cost carriers these days, so I think the smaller titles on this scheme add a touch of subtlety and understatement here.

I think that's just the angle and the curvature of the fuselage.

I am 100% sure it is a perfect angle all the way down, it's just the distortion of the tube vs a flat tail wing. If you were to view it directly sideways, it would look as intended, one angle.

I know who designed this and I saw some of the early work. And he is someone I admire a lot. I am glad they all decided to stay fairly close to Walter's original as much as possible. At the time it was designed it was quite cut-through and is still an icon of aviation.

If the green and red "A" on the tail was disposed of, it would equal the loss of the tulip.

Bravo Alitalia!

I was indeed referring to the 2 Etihad frames due to fly for Alitalia. Yes you stand correct...no new long haul order for AZ...(and I believe so far not even short haul orders have been placed)

The tail is seen full side-on. If ever, from this angle it should look perfect. As it doesnt look right, the paintjob is bad.
I buy the argument with the curvature, meaning that it becomes wider on top of the fuselage. But the the angle is different on tail and fuselage is just bad wrk of the painters.
