Could a direct flight between LCY and SDV (TLV as of 2019) be feasible? I guess the E-170/190 would lack the range when departing from such a short runway but what about the CS100?

Perhaps if you'd fly it empty (without passengers or cargo) you'd just make it, but what good would it be to fly an empty plane? The heavier the aircraft gets, the more fuel it consumes and therefor the less range it has.
However there's one plane that technically could make this trip non-stop, even with a heavy load on board. That's the Lockheed L-100 / C-130 Hercules. Four powerful turboprop engines makes that it can take off from short runways and it's got quite a long range. I've never seen a Hercules at LCY, but I think it would be possible.

When does BBD intend to get the CS100 certified for LCY, given the special challenges this airport poses? They certainly understand what the challenges are since the Q400 is certified.

Well in practice it goes no further than SNN, about 630km, and then refuels for its transatlantic crossing. It doesn't need much extra fuel to allow it to reach the obvious alternates of DUB or ORK.
This is of course the A318 with never more than 32 passengers in all-J configuration. How much more fuel it could carry and still take off safely from LCY I don't know, nor what effect a more normal weight of passengers and bags would have on maximum fuel at takeoff.

At base MTOW the CS100 requires a 1,219m TORA and gives you around 2,000 miles of range. LCY has a declared TORA of 1,199m, meaning you will have a slight hit on performance for the -13m length. LCY-SDV is 2,204 miles, meaning you are going to take a payload hit even in ISA and still air conditions. SDV-LCY should be possible without restrictions however.

I have been through the "terminal" at SDV going to Elath. The place is not much larger than a normal living room. We did not fall under the "egular" traveller scheme and created some havoc with security but our passports proved OLK after 5 minutes discussion. For such a Service there would be the Need to build a separate international terminal.
The biggest aircraft landing there are IAF Hercs and it is quite a sight seeing them coming in while Standing on the 17th floor balcony of the Hilton. But then. what good would it be, it never took me longer than half an hour at the most by taxi from TLV to the Hotel, usually less.

Wheres the demand? I think biz traffic between the two cities would limit the success of a LCY flight would it not? If someone was really wanting to run it I think a payload restricted A318 could make it. The standard range performance of the type is good.
And I was thinking A380.

It has, however SDV ops are limited to 4X tails to keep the security straight forward. In any case SDV is going to be closed (as the OP mentioned) within the next few years and all civil ops will be relocated to TLV.
The demand between LON and TLV is there and in the future LCY-TLV is a route that I would not rule out.

Isn't the Jewish community mostly living in areas where LTN and LHR is a better choice? Not sure how much real office-to-office business traffic is there.
Plus, isn't London-Israel a market served also by widebodies with a proper business class product? While VFR pax will put up with economy in a narrow-body, business travellers might be lured to LHR with the prospect of a proper business class. I remember there was an outcry recently when Lufthansa downgraded MUC-TLV to an A321 in place of the usual widebody.

Swiss will be taking that mantle. I understand Bombardier will begin operating the CS100 into LCY early 2016.

I'm really early for this topic, but the CS100 LCY range is 4352km, and the route ~3500km.

As said earlier, this airport is about to be closed, but anyway i think a shorter route would have been a smarter choise such as ATH or LCA.
for most people the sky is the limit. for those who love aviation, the sky is home...
