According a reliable source, all 3 B777-300 of KENYA AW,are expected today at AMS,and will be parked at "hangar 9", till next month, and shall be destined for TURKISH AL,and repainted at AMS.

Again, with over 40 planes arriving to TK already, where are they going to park these birds???

Rumor says 777-300, not the 777-200. Kenya Airways 77W fleet is pretty young:

Good news for TK, those are quite packed with 400 seats.
Will be good for them to use those on short hops to the mid east or europe. IMHO they waste a lot of potential revenue by flying the comfort 77Ws to places like LHR

Question regarding these 777W's are they supposed to be for short term lease or TK acquiring them for good, if so I'm sure they will refit the interior to TK standards.

What kind of refit are you expecting? Since they are almost brand new they will just start flying a few days after they land in IST, if they ever see the apron of IST...

They actually do not require refit, they have the same business layout and have 9 across Y. So pretty much an excellent fit for TK

Yes, they are refitting their existing 77Ws, but not just keeping the J section as is and reconfiguring Y+ with Y. By this, they can have two different layouts giving them greater flexibility. 49J may be too much for some destinations.

It happens almost everyday. TK sends a 77W to ESB, AYT, ADB.... sometimes to pickup stranded pax, sometimes for extra capacity.

Totally agree, but we know how TK introduces leased birds. I did a research and found that the KQ birds have the exact same IFE (Panasonic) system like our 77W (same USB port + WIFI), which is a big plus. Additionally, J cabin looks tremendously similiar, colourwise not though.

Maybe after D checks and broken seats they might think about changes the seats colour, everything else I think might be not reasonable to expect from TK, since they do not like to spend money on the cabin.

Isn't the A332 fleet also flying in 3-4 configurations as a result of the leases, even long-term?
Also what about the 2 Air Afriquiyah A333s that were going to join the fleet?
I bet TK is not going to change that interior of the Kenya Airways B77Ws.

Has anyone tried the TK lounge in SAW? How is it? I will be transiting there in a few weeks, BRU-SAW-ADB tickets are a lot cheaper than BRU-IST-ADB. Few days later will be on ADB-IST-YYZ-DTW on AC expect for the first segment. Last time I took the IST-YYZ flight it got delayed 24 hours and the IST ground staff was horrible... We will see how it goes this time.

One Afriqiyah Airways A333 now flies with TK, the second one is still in storage. Cabin configuration is C28 Y263, compared to C28 Y261 on the other TK A333s. So only two seats different.

They have more than one - 3 actually.

Different ones for international and domestic passengers.

The international one is a smaller version of the IST lounge with same design. For domestic they have two lounges one of which is more a VIP lounge with direct street access and another more regular lounge.

I tried it for the first time few months ago. My flight was a TK domestic flight and no one told me that the NEW lounge is not in the main terminal building. So, I got off the cab went through security and went where the old lounge was on the second floor, and turned around went all the way outside walk West by some parking lots and finally found the new lounge where the old SAW used to be. There might be an easier way, I made the mistake of not asking
All 3 TK female personnel working the lounge desk were wearing some purple head covers a la EK. Never seen that before.
Inside, IIRC; to the left is the larger Elite Lounge, to the right...smaller Elite Plus Lounge. Not sure where Star Gold gets you. Once inside the very small Elite Plus lounge, there were only a hand full of businessmen. The food options were nowhere close to IST selection but fine. No alcohol. Espresso machine, soft drinks, nuts, free internet, soft couches and such.
Then they made an announcement for my flight to DLM and I was the only one. So, a medium size van took me all the way to the remote stand where the 738 was parked.
I'm sure they have a way to connect you from the main terminal to the lounge. Hope this helps.
Bon Voyage.

Thanks LAXintl, I had no idea they had 3. But eventually I was happy with the one I found.

This is the one:

A quick question: I recently noticed that IST 05 landings are more closely spaced than SAW 06 ones. And apparently this is true even though two narrowbodies (e.g., 738) are following each other. See for example this current FR24 screen capture:

Why is there such a difference in separations? Any technical reasons?

PS: I did not notice any takeoffs from SAW after I took this screencap for a while, so that can't be it. ta

Wild guess:

Maybe the rapid taxiways to leave the runway allow aircraft to vacate faster at IST.

It was mentioned at the time in one of our threads, but DHMI adopted revised ATC procedures at IST which are largely modeled after LGW/LHR which allows higher hourly operating rates to help mitigate capacity constraints. These changes were implemented in phases over last couple of years with final phase adopted last year.

I'll miss these A343s once they are retired. Last december I flew IST-ESB on TC-JDM following an EK 77W flight which flew exactly the reverse direction at a higher altitude a few hours back. Both flights were in bad weather. It was so silent and turbulant free (of course also comfortable) experience on TC-JDM A343 compared to 77W. I even tought that, "may be quads have design advantage in comparison to twins for engine noise and stability even if they are 20 years older".

If that is the case, 6 x JFK flights cancelled in 2 days, see how they clear this mess up. Probably they can not do more than 3 flights tomorrow due to congestion, maybe send 77Ws??

Quoting TK787 (Reply 196):
So, all 3 cancelled again for today. Too bad there were no cancellation news by TK hours before the first flight. What did people do, go to the airport and wait for hours??
If that is the case, 6 x JFK flights cancelled in 2 days, see how they clear this mess up. Probably they can not do more than 3 flights tomorrow due to congestion, maybe send 77Ws??

77Ws might help , you also have to consider the fact that some of these people won't be able to show up in JFK for some time because their flights that brings them to JFK are not operating full scale.
