No, BlueAir only flies OTP - IAS double daily. Other than this flight, Romania's domestic market is dominated by TAROM (ROT).

Very good news for Romania! Looking forward for more domestic flights operated by FR. Their price structure and aircraft are perfect for domestic flight - even more luxurious than the ATRs that TAROM operates on domestic flights.

Tarom Romanian appears to finally retire their two remaining A310-325 at the end of Oct 2016. Delivered new Dec 01 1992, YR-LCA 50,683 flying hours and YR-LCB 47,057 flying hours. Not clear at the moment what their faith are to be. Either sale or Romanian Air Force transfer and conversion. There are some plans though to replace them with A330 or B787 for US and/or Canada routes in the near future.

Their plans are calling for a complete fleet-swap toward new one type family aircraft, all to be taken in trough operational leasing. The new fleet will include apparently two wide-body, long-range aircraft to replace the old A310-325.

Wizz Air has much higher stakes here in Eastern Europe, with hubs in between BUD and SKP, up to RIX, almost everywhere.
Anyway, people from the Balkans at least is not so used to flying as they do with trains, which are really affordable for them.
A friend of mine has a good job, full time (in Montenegro) and earns 280EUR a month. She is happy. I don't see how she, or so many other young montenegrins or serbs, could afford flying... But the train, that's cheap. She pays 34 euro return to Budapest, eg.

I did not see it mentioned here: Adria announced 3x weekly SZY-MUC flight.

SZY is recently opened Olsztyn - Mazury airport in northeastern Poland, IATA code is EPSY. It is best known for suspected, secret CIA flights.

Runway was rebuilt, along with new terminal and railway link to nearby town of Szczytno and onward to Olsztyn.

Other destinations served from SZY are TXL and KRK by Polish carrier SprintAir.
Proudly avoiding 737 MAX since 18.11.2020.

From Montenegro there are no WizzAir Flights. They have to go either to PRN, SKP or to BEG. That's already 20Eur bus. And DBV or SPU is only seasonal (mostly to Italy).

Busiest airports in the region, 2015 (from the Top 100/Europe list)

Passengers, YoY growth

PRG 12,030,928 +7.9%
WAW 11,206,700 +5.8%
BUD 10,298,963 +12.5%
OTP 9,274,629 +11.5%
KBP 7,300,000 +5.9%
BEG 4,776,110 +3.0%

It is not bad at all and the outlook for this year is solid too.

I doubt these numbers a bit. How did Ukrainian main airport increased their pax numbers if last september they cancelled all the flights to Russia which where, at least, a 20% of all passengers leaving Ukraine?
They suspended 2 daily PS flights to DME and 1 to LED, at least 6 of SU, UN, UT and S7, and a few more of smaller airlines flying to other airports besides Moscow...

But world Youth day is coming soon so isn't it just to fulfill that demand?

World Youth Day is going to be one week in July. Big event with 300k-2mio expected in attendance. There are going to be charter flights, tour buses, 100% full flights, packed trains, etc with people coming and going. But all the new flights are going to be relying on more that just that week.

It's my understanding that the recent influx of carriers and new flights is generally brought by increasing inbound tourism as well as the growing contingent of foreign companies with offices in Kraków. More than 10 million people visited the city last year, including about 2.6 million foreign tourists. My observation has been that the number of visitors has been pretty consistent year-round - people don't seem to mind cold, gray and rainy too much on their off-season visits here (neither do I)! Business also seems to be booming, feeding corporate travel. For example, IAG recently opened an SSC (shared services center) in Kraków, supporting in part the BA flights to LHR. Other companies with a presence here include Google, IBM, Phillip Morris, etc..

Infrastructure investments have also made KRK an attractive place for airlines to land. The entire apron has been rebuilt and expanded. The first phase of the new terminal opened last September (planned capacity 8 million PAX per year).

The city is booming, the airport has been revamped and the airport management is ready to satisfy increasing demand and fight for new carriers. Already announced for this year, we have Iberia Express (Madrid), Aegean (Athens), SprintAir (Olsztyn-Mazury) and Air France (CDG) coming. Exciting times!

Greetings from KRK,
Filip
