Ah what a shame, I loved those E145 in 2-1 configuration.

This article also states that the fleet replacement will be completed by July and that all aircraft will be leased.

This is quite the capacity increase for PGA.

The new fleet is said to be 40% more efficient than the current one. That's a huge margin right there.

Also,

TAP Express to go head-to-head with Ryanair on selected routes.
LIS-OPO-LIS to go hourly(!) and prices to match those of the train.

A CP return ticket is 19,50€ or 29,90€, depending on train type.

Both ATR and Embraers are coming from Azul which is reducing capacity on Brazilian domestic market due to the crisis on the country.

I wonder if we could see a LIS-LCY route with the E190?

As much as I love the Fokker's, the PGA examples REALLY need to retire. They are really tired birds. The amount of delays encountered due to technical problems are ridiculous. It will be interesting to see the ERJ operation start.

So the E190s are clearly meant as F100 replacement. The ATR's will replace the E145s, even though they carry more passengers. But they're slower.

I wonder if that will mean withdrawing long haul services from OPO? It doesn't make any sense that the flag carrier of such a small country like Portugal has long-haul services from two airports.

The Embraers will probably see mainline action as well during lean spells.
Question everything. Trust no-one.

That's really where the strength of this "merger" is: The ability to move equipment according to demand.
Not just due to economic cycles, but seasonal demand too. With both airlines being based in opposite hemispheres that means that high season for one is low season for the other.

Slower but on flights within the Iberian peninsula which is where I expect them to be deployed, it shouldn't make a huge difference.

It was said that the current long haul flights out of OPO will remain (EWR, GIG and GRU).

True. But the E145's fly routes like Porto-Milan, Lisbon-Toulouse, etc. Those go well beyond the Iberian peninsula.

Are they experiencing more traffic than before or might they close some thinner routes? I can't imagine that the 72-seat ATR is a good fit to replace the B1900Ds. Did they just use the 1900s for added frequency to already served destinations?

Anyway, good news for PGA. Too bad we'll never see any Beechcrafts or Fokkers in the TAP livery...

Which is why I said "I expect". Notice that they are getting 9 E190's to replace only 6 F100's. That tells me that the E190's will be flying the longer E145 routes. Having said that TLS is actually closer than some Spanish destinations so an ATR should be fine.

Based on what is loaded now on TAP website ATR72 will fly

Portugal:
LIS-OPO

Spain:
LIS-LCG
LIS-OVD
LIS-BIO
LIS-VLC
LIS-AGP
LIS-SVQ

Morroco:
LIS-TNG
LIS-CMN
LIS-RAK

Also based on TAP website flight search engine, E190 will fly:
OPO-GVA
OPO-MAD
LIS-LYS
LIS-NCE
LIS-TLS
LIS-MRS
LIS-BOD
LIS-NTE
LIS-ALG

There are still loaded flights from OPO-AMS on F100 that probably will change to E190 as well, and certainly more changes will be made, because for this flights they don't need 9 ERJ190.

I can't see the logic of serving OVD and LCG, and probably TNG. Those Spanish routes are heavily subsidized by local governments, and even smaller planes (ATR42 and Beech 1900 until recently!) fly now half empty. Hard to think that TAP has no better place to deploy those planes.

TAP Express will also start LIS-VGO with the ATR72.

Adoring to Wikipedia TP will cease Manaus, Panama City, Bogota, Hannover and Zagreb.

If the local government is willing to subsidize the routes and TP makes money on them, then why not operate the routes?

I'm pretty sure they were White Airways aircraft operating for PGA. Indeed, their wikipedia page shows that.

Well, they will also do the Ponte Aerea on OPO-LIS.

How about OPO-BRU? Took that on a F100 recently.

Is there a source for HAJ ending? Quite a few news articles mention the other destinations ending, but I have not seen Hanover anywhere else.
