Word is on the street that TK instead of PK will acquire all three KQ 77W aircraft. The jets are configured with some 400 seats (C28 Y372) and will be operated to BOM and DEL.
Aircraft will be repainted at AMS.

That's interesting news. I wonder if they will aquire them outright, or lease them. IIRC KQ leased them from GECAS.

I get the impression these three 77W's for TK will keep the KQ cabin (no refurbishment to their own cabin for inflight product consistency purposes)? In any way, I'm glad these fairly new 77W's have found a new home.

I talked about this in another topic, 5Y-KZZ was fully ready in the morning in stand J-1 for flying today to AMS, but the other two are not getting any work done, they are pretty new but tyres, engines, pitots, and probes are all covered and they are still in the north platform.
Also 2 B772 are getting ready for ferry flights to the USA, I have been told they are going to USA for an airline mainly flying charters for the USA Army.
The cabin is pretty similar to TK, but with less Business class seats, only 4 rows on 2-3-2, so 28 seats. So I think as someone point before they could use in BOM and DEL, where they are limited by number of flights and that extra economy seats can help a lot. Maybe BKK could be a good candidate for the other one. Right now A333 with 28/260.
Any chance to upgrade some Iran Flights to B77W?? I think one of the flights is on A330, maybe they will add more flights before sending such a big machine with 400 seats.

JFK has been 3 daily this winter with A333s. S16 2 out of the 3 flights back to 77W.

So, 3 x 77W IST-JFK for the summer, see what happens in winter.
I really do like the 77W on the route better even though both J/Y seat arrangements are better on the 333.
To refresh memories....few other S16 changes from airlineroute:
-IAD goes from 7 to 10 W with 333
-JNB goes from 7 to 10 W with 333
-KUL goes from 10 to 14 with 333
-TPE goes from 7 to 10 with 77W.

I'm sure it's been discussed somewhere in the Civil Aviation but could someone give us a quick summary of what happened to these 3 aircraft, why it didn't work for KQ and in the link Karel posted also says they had 9 Dreamliners on order expected to be delivered in 2014, what happened with that order? Sorry I'm not really following KQ lately and thanks in advance.

My version is that KQ put in place a very ambitious expansion plan some years ago called project mawingu (trying to emulate ET is my guess) and ordered the 77W's for trunk routes with the idea of increased passenger traffic and 787's to replace the 767 fleet. The 77W EIS coincided with a very tumultuous time in Kenya due repeated attacks from al shabaab discouraging tourism and they couldn't fill these planes even on the AMS and LHR routes (I always thought that 400 seats were too much for them to fill from the start). They briefly operated 77W to LOS and BOM. The losses grew every month and the 77E fleet was selected to be sold to raise capital a while back which they have finally managed to sell two to Omni Air so far. The 77W was first pulled off the CAN route, then AMS and finally LHR, which only received the 77W for the busy summer season.
As for the 787's, all nine have been delivered and operate all their longhaul routes plus some flights to BOM, DXB, and JNB.

There was a big expansion plan a few years ago, they got the B77W, a JV for cargo with KLM and one B744, they also convert 2 B733 to cargo and order plenty of E-jets plus some more B738, but with the situation in Kenya, the ebola outbreak in west Africa and the fire in NBO airport all the plans went wrong.
The new planned routes to CAN, PEK, GRU, HAN, USA etc got cancelled or had very bad loads, except HAN that is almost full everyday.
I remember the first time I flew KQ new B77W to AMS we were around 75 total on board and that was with crew. the cargo business apparently did not work as good as they thought, even if you can see plenty of cargo planes in NBO.
KQ like Ethiopian is a reference in Africa but with the rise of IST, DXB, DOH, AUH and the respective airlines that African dominant position is gone, I am not sure, but I think TK could be serving more destination than ET and KQ in Africa, EK is adding slowly more, same for QR, and most pax will choose ME3 or TK over KQ almost all the time, even in KQ is not that bad.
Turkish is getting one more plane new from factory, I am not sure if they are getting more this year, but maybe they are just moving them around the network, 23 are active and 4 more joining shortly. Also getting 4 more A330 in the near future.
Then we will be able to know where are the 3 birds going easily. I was trying some random bookings but I can only see B777-300ER in the details.

I think 4 of these 400 seats birds can be perfect for daily West Coast-Turkey and India-Turkey operations in 48hr segments. Operation can be as follows:
