New AB (AirBerlin) Super-cheap Euro-White Livery?

Fri Jan 22, 2016 8:03 am

I just saw an AB Q400 (operated by LGW as usual) climb away from TXL as flight BER530L. The livery looked new to me, actually I didn't even recognize the aircraft as an AB plane.

So I checked flightradar, it is this aircraft: http://www.flightradar24.com/reg/d-abqq

Here is also a YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EABkA5tKGKw

So just an short-termin solution? Doesn't seem so, because the livery is already one year old. Or a test for a new ultra-cheap Euro-White livery? Doesn't look good IMO...

Have seen this livery on the Q400 for quite some while at HAM and other places. Think it's turboprop specific but certainly not a new livery. Maybe somebody knows the reason

Besides, I like it, albeit less than AB's regular livery

I have seen this particular plane too.
It could just be a test for a revised livery.
Afterall it´s the only one sporting this inverted colours, bar the odd all white 737.
I don´t think they´ll go for it and I sure hope they won´t.
The current livery is really nice, smart looking and fresh.

Negative - that aircraft just did not make it into the paintshop yet. This will be done once some heavy maintenance will be scheduled and then afterwards it will get into the full livery

It is not the first time AB does this. I guess it is relatively short-term contract aircraft. Here is an A320-200, operated by Blue Wings for AB, that had a white livery: http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/photo/000094974.html

TY134A is right. These are Skywork colours.
However, according to pictures on another aviation photo community the aircraft should be painted in the standard livery now. When did you see it in Berlin?

Three days ago, when I opened the thread. My office window is just 1000 meters from the thresholds of the 26 runways, I see all departures or arrivals, depending on wind direction, quite clearly.

I hate you....... just kidding but super jealous. Probably good I don't have a job like that. No work would get done.

At least it has the AB logo on it unlike the two former OLT Express Airbus flying around. They have worn that tail while flying for AB at least 3 years, D-ABDB and D-ABGS.
