Last thread here .

MAN had more than 23 million passengers last year and given the range of new services and current routes gaining frequency/capacity potential for well in excess of 24 milliom passengers ths year.

1st bit of news.. per airlineroute, AA is going to use 787s on AA54/55 from 3rd June to 6th October.

It'll be nice to see the AA 787 at MAN, it seems they have altered the timings of that flight too (which personally is a shame as I find it nifty to change at ORD for a flight to the West Coast). So I may just have to take the flight to PHL instead

Out of interest is the IB A340 still here?

Any rumors out there at all about a possible MAN-SFO service? The lift from LHR and soon LGW to the Bay Area has exploded in the last year and there will be 8 flights serving 3 airports. I can't imagine not having some significant demand from MAN and the Midlands...Thoughts?

I would say there's more chance of DL launching the flight and codesharing with VS. AA have significantly reduced their operation at BOS and don't even offer any long-haul services anymore, whereas DL fly to AMS, LHR and CDG

As far as I'm aware, AA have never served BOS from MAN. However, TCX are starting BOS in May this year!

AA did do BOS in the summer and MIA in the winter for a couple of years.

I have used AA BOS-MAN once on their 757's, back in 200x something. I never used them again after that experience, US, DL, BMI and CO options were much better.

Yep, 2x weekly with a 332

As others have said, highly unlikely AA will start BOS-MAN, they leave their TATL stuff from BOS to BA, I could see a DL/VS flight started more likely on DL metal if they have any spare because they can use Terminal A for departures like the rest of their AMS/CDG/LHR flights, thus avoiding the crush of Terminal E at departure time and getting back before it gets busy, if they time something for around noon EST for arrival.

I am truly surprised given the growth at MAN not more has been tried to BOS more recently, does anyone know if 2x is it for TCX or could they expand in 2017, do they have a history doing that, or just start something and stick with it. Curiousity more than anything.

I used that flight in 2007 and also vowed never again. It was not the B757 that was an issue but AA's entertainment system/staff attitude/product offering in general. They even took off from MAN with no red wine on board, not even to sell at USD5 a bottle to those of us in Y. When my previous three holidays at the time had involved SQ B772ER and EK A332 departures from MAN and BA long haul via LHR the AA experience was a major shock to the system!!! I hope they have now improved for their sake but in 2007 it was amazing how far AA were behind the European/Asian/ME3 curve for long haul Y pax.

The return flight from ORD two weeks later on board their B763 was not much better either.

Great news this! I prefer the morning flights and LH are too expensive. I like EZY but their flight times @ 14.30 aren't really convenient enough, especially if your on a business day trip.

Shaheen Air is 3 weekly from March.

Business Desk has a story on the FR ramp-up includng this :

"Ryanair is growing around 10% a year, last year at Manchester it was 25%, and next year we expect passenger numbers to be up 33%, consolidating us as the biggest airline by market share there. We also have Leeds and Liverpool, which remain important bases for us, but Manchester is where the big growth is."

One must remember how they used LPL as MAN wouldn't deal with low-costers. Then when they started, umbrage was taken and withdrew nearly all services due to "high charges". Then came back on a worse deal and still made MAN their big Northern England base.

And now BE going 12 weekly to LUX from 1st September. Wording in an article says 2 daily Monday to Friday and daily weekends. Not to sure if it really does mean 1 return flight with the weekend split as outbound Saturday, inbound Sunday.

Does anyone know if AA will eventually upgrade their JFK and PHL flights to a B787, like they will with the ORD route? Perhaps "upgrade" is the wrong word to use for the PHL flight as that is already an A330 (which I think is larger than the B788?) but certainly an upgrade in terms of quality of product, in my opinion.

Unlikely any time soon

Phil remains pmUS crew and station so expect the 332 and occasional 333 for some time to come

JFK has a shed load of 763/76W residents to utilise- No 788s yet.

American seem to want to use the 788 on longer legs primarily from LAX/Dallas and O'Hare and the Manchester route over the northern summer seems an oddity other than for good utilisation .

Thinks its Shanghai or Tokyo - O'Hare quick overnight return to Manchester and back over the Pacific.

They're starting Barcelona very quickly! I am sure they'll fill the seats on those routes, plus DY are becoming quite a big name among expats in Spain I speak to.

It is definitely a very short lead-in time. Perhaps they are hoping to take advantage of would be travellers who are being put off by high prices at that time. Certainly no lack of competition to BCN

I see that SN now have a fourth daily (Mon-Fri) BRU-MAN flight. The outward from BRU is 19:30 arriving into MAN 19:55 and then returning at 20:45 arriving into BRU at 23:10. Hopefully this will reduce the fares SN charge for this route now that they have extra seats to fill.
