Great to see EK entering the Myanmar market. Impressed that they got local traffic rights on RGN-HAN.

I find surprising that Turkish does not serve Yangon, considering they basically serve every other country on earth  Any reason?

Must be something having to do with what time they want to return to DXB? If they only sit in Hanoi for, say, 2 hours, then they end up back in Dubai at 2305, which may not be ideal for them.

Curious how they will staff it with the long stop in Hanoi. One imagine the crew doing DXB-RGN/RGN-HAN-RGN/RGN-DXB wouldn't be ideal, so perhaps they just go straight through to Hanoi and rest there?

To connect with the large connecting bank between 6-9 am for departures to Europe. The 12-3 am bank westbound is their smallest, and only serves relatively few destinations.

What actually surprises me more is that they're not leaving Dubai at about 9 am as part of that bank, which would arrive in Hanoi at about 9 pm. Presumably either slots or aircraft availability didn't work out, EK is stretched pretty thin.

Myanmar is just starting to open up. Even now it's still not really set up for tourists. It's getting there, but give it time.

A 2:50am departure would actually capture more inbound connections from Europe, since the largest arrival bank from Europe is around 10pm-1am. If it was a 9am departure from DXB, connection times would be bad from PRG, BUD, ARN, OSL, CPH, ATH, GVA, LED, VCE, BLQ among others...

Yay! To be honest tho I was thinking FZ would enter first and/or EY would do it with one of their A319s. And yeah, TK needs to come!

And yes, most of the traffic EK taps would be SEAsia to Europe traffic. So they did right.
It takes a special breed of humans to sit through 16.5hrs in Y on EY/EK to N. America.
