That said, with the YX 170's going away and the scheduled wind down of the S5 145 operation now (which will mean a simplification of the Delta Connection system, in terms of fleet types) is the company even able to properly staff what they have left flying?

FWIW DCI will still have E70s. Compass has some.

I was talking elimination of the 145 flying. Takes the Connection fleet down to CRJ's and the 170 family.

ah okay

its really disappointing. I really would love to see DL replace all of 9E/OO/EVs CRJ-200s with ERJ-145s. Love that 1-2 seating. (honestly would prefer DCI to go all EMB, E45/E70/E75. Not a CRJ fan)

From what I have read elsewhere, these 170's are going to be ex-MidAtlantic E170's which were operated by USAir itself prior to being "sold" to republic. So they would be from the 2004-2006 time frame of deliveries and are among the oldest Ejets in existence.

These aircraft are the ex-Mid Atlantic planes. That is correct. They are coming out of the AA operation. While a couple of them saw service in the Midwest operation, very very few did. Most of those aircraft are now on the S5 certificate flying for DL.

S5 will continue to operate E70s for DL as well. The only aircraft effected here are operating in the AA fleet. The UA/DL aircraft are not effected.
