That's good for KQ, because last I heard is that they are taking delivery of the last B787 because Boeing refuse to delay the delivery of them, and they did not have any route to fly them, they have more than enough B787, actually they are using them a lot in JNB rotations.
It surprise me that the deal is for a wet lease, so that means that Cockpit crew will be KQ, but WY is getting B787 so they could have use their own crews.

KQ's final 787 was delivered in Oct 2015, 4 months later than originally scheduled due to the collapse of the ExIm Bank in the US.

There was no collapse, it was a short time when Republicans in Congress used it as a political football and wanted to cut funding.

There is no mention of the Oman Air flights commencing 12 April, using slots purchased (from AF-KLM I believe).
That flight arrives at LHR at 0630.
So will Oman Air have two early morning arrivals into LHR? The articles I found on google all seemed to suggest this will be WY's second LHR flight.

Also very sad to see how terrible a time KQ is going through. Things were looking so promising just 5-10 years ago.

Not that long ago, KQ had B777's which they sold because they were too big. They then downgauged to the B787.

On what routes are the 788 used still, is all KQ long-haul routes still operating. JNB seems to be doing okay, since they're using the 788 most of the time on one of the 3 daily NBO-JNB flights...while KQ is also to increase the route from 21 to 25 weekly from April (adding 4 x E190 flights), think they carry reasonable amount of connecting traffic from JNB through to Europe, Asia and other parts of Africa
Coincidentally Oman Air is apparently also looking at launching JNB flights, have already advertised for representatives in JNB, guess the 788 would be perfect fit for them to launch a 3 weekly MCT-JNB service and especially to connect it to the LHR flights and Asia flights

They weren't doing well with B77Ws as they were apparently wayyy too big. Touch of the Thai Airways-itis about ordering loads of new aircraft on the grounds they're shiny and pretty tbh.

5Y-KZH (LN 307, delivered October 2015 after the dumb Ex-Im Bank kerfuffle thankfully was resolved) hasn't shown up on Flightradar24 in a while. Looks like there may not be enough routes for 9 aircraft.

I thought the whole point of KQ getting the 787s was so they could return the not-very-old 777s which were too big for decent yield. Now they're losing 787s as well....

The B787 was to replace the old B767 and the B772, not the B77W, but they have to change plans.

DEL was suppose to be upgraded to B787 but KQ cancelled the route before even the first B787 flight, I remember I saw a full article in the KQ magazine about Delhi advertising as the next B787 destinations, and that was when the first B787 arrive.
I think Kinshasa sees the B787 quite often on the KQ554-KQ555.
2 years ago KQ staff was always talking about FCO, GRU and PEK as soon to be B787 destinations.

actually last year KQ got some brand new B738, registration starting with 5Y-CY..

And AMS, and many of them were pretty full, but not anymore, but I have asked a lot about HAN and the route is great, very high load factors and good cargo loads.
