China Airlines Non-stop To Europe With A350

Mon Mar 14, 2016 10:58 am

The upcoming A350 will allow China Airlines to operate more non-stop routes to Europe.

Quote:
Taipei, March 14 (CNA) China Airlines (CAL), Taiwan's largest carrier, said Monday that the new A350 jets it will receive in July will enhance its transport capabilities and enable non-stop flights to Europe.

Flights from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to Amsterdam and Rome, which currently make layovers in Bangkok and Delhi, respectively, will become non-stop services starting this December, said CAL Chairman Sun Hung-hsiang (孫洪祥).

Looks only logical. I look forward to see them flying into Europe with their A350's.

I wonder if the direct AMS-TPE route will work.
I had the impression most pax have Bangkok as final destination.

The CI A350 is so Eurocentric that the cabin will have European elements in addition to the Orient-inspired hardware. The Business Class lounge will be named “Sky Bistro”, serving Tapas and other fusion cuisine. New boarding and embarking music will be played to enhance the contemporary urban style of the cabin. Scent specially created for China Airlines will add a fragrant touch to the passenger experience.

The following is a break-down of the hardware details:

-Premium Business Class
>32 seats/ 1-2-1 abreast
>78″ fully flat bed and 18″ PTV screen
>Equipped with Sky Bistro
-Premium Economy Class
>31 fixed-back seats/ 2-3-2 abreast
>20″ width and 39″ pitch
-Economy Class
>243 seats including 12 Family Couch seats/ 3-3-3 abreast
>18″ width and 32″ pitch
>Higher seat pockets and slimline seats contribute to spaciousness

The report also suggests one of the daily Frankfurt flights will be operated by A350, according to http://www.airportspotting.com/china-airlines-airbus-a350-routes/. Is that true?

(Also a picture of the first CI aircraft on the production line on that link)

That was my thought as well. A roughly estimate but i think 70% is flying with China Airlines because they want to get off in Bangkok. Taiwan is not really a populair destination for dutch people. So good business for Eva Air in soon i think. I wonder how long it will take to find out a direct route to Taiwan is not working. And Eva Air could increase flights to Amsterdam as they are always full.

CI press release
https://www.china-airlines.com/us/en/discover/news/press-release/20160314
at least for winter 2017 the TPE-AMS flight is only 4/week, VIE 3x/week and FCO 2x/week.
FRA goes to daily this June but its not clear from this report what equipment. CI takes delivery of its 10th and last ordered 77W @May.
