TG To Remove A380 From FRA Route?

Wed Mar 16, 2016 3:29 am

Thai Airways has updated its S16 schedule, which will see the A380 deployed on the BKK KIX midnight departure. With a 6-strong A380 fleet, this new flight is incompatible with flights to FRA, CDG and LHR in that same midnight departure hub. While the A380 is still displayed on the BKK FRA route, the airline has closed First Class availability for these flights, indicating that a swap to B77W equipment may be imminent for the TG920/921 rotation. A380 equipment remains scheduled for CDG, LHR and NRT.

Good spot there, yes, it does look like it. I'd call that sensible use of the A380 fleet to meet seasonal demand. I'm sure the 380 will be back on FRA in winter 16/17 season, as it looks like KIX will get the 744 then.

Thai Airways has already updated the planned Bangkok - Frankfurt route for summer 2016 season.
From March 27th, TG will continue to operate 13 weekly flights as described: TG BKK-FRA [7x 380 + 6x 77W].
However, this will be temporary reduced to 11 weekly from April 29th to June 26th: TG BKK-FRA [7x 380 + 4x 77W].

Regards.

Still doesn't explain why F class is blocked off sale as per opening post.

LHR - BKK with TG will stay as it is now except the evening flight will go from daily to 5 a week.
So still daily A380 and 5 a week 77W this summer.

Just found this link on http://fraaviation.forumsfree.de ...

Do TG's 777-300ER have real flat beds in business class similar to the one they have on their A380's?

Just came home with one of their A380's. A colleague of mine once took their 777 and told me they do not have real flat beds but maybe that changed in the meantime...

The business class product is the same on A380s and 777-300ERs: 1-2-1 with fully flat beds.

The business class product on all other 777s is angled lie-flat, with slight variation. That includes the -200, -200ER (used for a couple non daily European routes), and -300. The -200 and -300 are limited to regional and possibly Australian flights (unless I'm out of date on that last point)

The 380s will be under check and maintenance work, and the 777-300ER will be utilized iso 747-400 due to low demand in F class and economical reasons (fuel, crew rotation and YIELD)

Brgds.

@ lawair, reply no. 12: thank you very much for your feedback. I am not sure if my next flight will be before the A380's are back on this route. So good to know that business class is the same on both aircraft. Thank you.
