Airbus New Cabin Brand - Airspace By Airbus

Wed Mar 23, 2016 10:42 am

Quote: An innovative new concept in jetliner cabins was launched this week with the “Airspace by Airbus” brand, bringing together an enhanced experience for passengers and optimum performance for airlines based on four dimensions: comfort, ambience, service and design.

Introduced with Airbus’ widebody A330neo (new engine option) version – and incorporated on the A350 XWB – Airspace cabins offer a more relaxing, inspiring, attractive and functional environment for travellers and optimises the use of cabin space for operators.

Sounds like Airbus is launching their own version of the Boeing "Signature" interiors.

Honestly, cabins are a place where I think Airbus needs to step up their game with respect to their competitor. I'm glad they're taking this seriously.

Looks very promising. I've had no complaints about any Airbus interiors, but I guess they need to keep up.

Smaller IFE boxes, good start at least.

Honestly the only visual difference between Boeing and Airbus' latest cabins is the oval on the roof on Boeing's. Airbus is starting to add pivot bins, so that's changing. I don't think the oval on the roof really adds enough to say Airbus needs to "catch up" lol.

I like the interior decorative improvements. Bigger bins and more comfortable lighting is pleasant.

Airbus also likes to first offer smaller galley and lavatory options on first on their NEO derivatives. It helps improve the CASM to increase seat count in the marketing material. Fortunately for the airlines many of these upgrades like the space flex lavatories and galleys are available for retrofit so it is not actually tied to the NEO.

'As in the Airbus A350, the central luggage bins have been removed from the business class cabin to ehance the feeling of overall spaciousness.'

That will make everyone happier - less space to put handbaggage.

It's not really a problem in the less-densely populated business section.

I like the projections on the ceiling. Pretty cool.

Something to distract the passengers from the ever shrinking seats I suppose...

The new bins appear not to be pivot bins as seen on A350 but regular bins with an updated look. Doesn't seem like a step in right direction to me, but I guess they couldn't fit pivot bins on A330, so they just make the cabin "look" like A350 without changing the underlying design.

I think adding a blue vagina to their cabin ceilings is a fairly low priority.

Their A350 and A380 cabins are pretty cutting edge IMHO.

Don't need them in that space (F/J).

I like the LED entrance.

But otherwise, nothing really special or innovate about it, that I can tell. The lack of pivot bins is surprising. I wonder if they would not be able to be refit, and thus Airbus left them out to maintain consistency?

They say they are going to get 10 more seats on the A330Neo but keeping 8 abreast and no change in width.

How are they doing this? Less pitch? Fewer or smaller lavs or galleys?

Changing the lighting or shrinking IFE boxes doesn't add more seats

Where is the space for 10 more pax coming from?

Taking the Spaceflex galley/lav concept from the A32X and applying it to the A330. So smaller lavs and galleys.

I think it looks great, and makes the NEO more in line with the A380 and the A350. I don't know why so much hate ...I love the 739 new interior and slim seats, it looks like a different airplane than the 734...

I think Boeing already claimed this space when they selected cabin widths on 777, 787 and 737.

Based on the Leeham slide,

for A339: overall smaller toilets, also for J. Two mid-aft toilets are moved to the rear galley in a spaceflex fashion. Monuments and some galleys reduced in size or removed.

for A338: two smaller toilets in Y, no changes to other toilets. Relocating one J toilet to fwd section. Relocating one Y aft galley toilet to the mid-aft section. Monuments and some galleys reduced in size or removed.
