Hey all,
I suspect that the bulk of a possible Boeing 100-jet order would be for 737NGs and MAXs. Most of these would be presumably -800s/-MAX8s but would they need the shorter field/hot and high performance of the -700/-MAX7 for domestic flights? Boeing would I am sure do a killer deal for NGs to help soak up the gap between current orders and the MAX.
Likewise, I think the bulk of a 777 order would be for -300ERs with Boeing happy to soak up the gap between the current series and X-series 777s. I can see an order possibly for a few -200LRs and freighters in the mix, with some specific rumoured routes (such as Sydney) requiring either the reduced capacity, longer range or hot and high performance of the -200LR compared to the -300ER. I can't really see the -8/-9 getting much love yet from Iran, being so far away from EIS.
I find it hard to believe that the Dreamliner would not get any orders. I suppose the Airbus orders covering A330ceos and neos plus the A350 would cover those segments of the market.
What intrigues me is the situation regarding freighters. With the lifting of sanctions, is there a large pent-up demand for imported 'Western' goods that can now be satiated? If so, does Iran need new large freighters? The lack of any A330F orders suggest that either (a) Iran doesn't need new freighters in the short term or (b) that Boeing will get orders for 747-8Fs and/or 777Fs. I would think that an order for 4 of either might be the way to go for Iran, with another couple on option. As much as I would love to see it, I think Airbus killed off any possibility of a 747-8 Intercontinental order with the arguably bigger than expected order awarded to it for the A380 to absorb any VLA demand in Iran.
Maybe, just maybe, an Iranian AF1 order may be tagged on to the commercial Boeing order ...
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Bunumuring.
