Royal Air Maroc Inaugurates NBO & More Expansion

Thu Mar 31, 2016 12:20 am

Royal Air Maroc today launched its very 1st service to Nairobi, Kenya. This will be the carrier's 33th destination in Africa and its 1st in the eastern part of the continent. RAM will initially offer 2x weekly service (remaining days will be offered in code share with QR) onboard B767-300ER aircraft with revamped cabin interiors. The carrier will be the first to connect the Kingdom of Morocco with Kenya and aims to tap into the immensely popular safari tourism as well as offer Kenyans a wide range of destinations in EU and the Americas via CMN.

Royal Air Maroc has also started its 1st intra-Africa routes, which are offered besides the non stop routes already served by the carrier: ACC-ROB-FNA. The carrier offers these flights 3x weekly onboard B737 aircraft and all combinations are possible from a marketing pov.

The Moroccan airline is again in growth mode; late last year it started service to DOH in JV with QR, NBO - 30 March, GIG - May '16, IAD Sep '16. RAM is expected to take delivery of 3x B787's this year.

I wonder if NBO makes sense at this point in time.
Upcoming flights:
May: AM MEX-CUN 73H (Y), AM CUN-MEX 73W (Y).
August: KL MEX-AMS 74M (J), KQ AMS-NBO 788 (J).

It has all the merits of replicating the success of CMN-JNB all over again...

A return to JNB is being considered as well.

What happened on the JNB flight? When did they operate and when/why did they end?

Around 2003-2004, after South Africa has recognized Western Sahara as a republic and suppoted a self determination (Kenya also supports Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic )

RAM will initially offer 2x weekly service (remaining days will be offered in code share with QR)

RAM has also code share agreements on Qatar Airways daily service to Kigali and Entebbe (AT 9715 / AT 9714).

Rwandan press said last month that RAM will serve Kigali, after an interview with Morrocan Ambassador in Kenya.

RAM planned to fly there in 2008 (it was probably better in 2008, cause now KL, Turkish and Qatar serve KGL. KGL is a fast growing market, but quite small.

RAM is a disgrace of an " airline" for participating in Pay to Fly schemes where young foreign First Officers pay up to 30.000$ to RAM to work as FO on their network for about a year. After that, they are fired and replaced by new ones who are willing and desperate enough to pay.

Absolutely insulting and Modern day slavery.

Oh I am very interested in seeing what those look like, does anyone have a photo of their revamped interiors?

This has absolutely nothing to do in this thread. RAM isn't the only airline that proposed the self sponsored line training, if you wanna start crying about it maybe you should launch a specific thread then.
Born to fly !
