I will recap some of the news, IIRC: (Please do correct if you see something)

-MyCargo received its 8th 747F, TK receiving another 332F this month. TK Cargo also starting flights to BLL, BCN, RUH and SGN.
-At a recent interview, TK’s Temel Kotil said after ATL, TK is planning 5 other cities in the US.
-As “wing” mentioned it last month, there is a pilot shortage in Turkey. From what I can gather both TK and Pegasus increased their pilot compensation recently. Looks like there is a April 1 deadline that limits pilots moving between airlines. Maybe someone can explain this better. On top of that, ME airlines coming to Turkey to steal some of the flight crews also.
-Last month, there were news about Visa Free travels to EU by Turkish citizens, let’s see how this plays out.
-TK increasing flights to Saudia Arabia and announced Seychelles for the future.
-TK to get a total of 5 wide bodies this month alone. (ordered 77W, A333 and Kenyan 777s)

Please continue with your news, views, photos, rumors and good old sense of humor. As usual I would like to remind everyone to refrain from personal attacks or political innuendos.

Welcome all,
TK787

That was a great thread. Still waiting for the A380 though   It was a great year for both Star and TK though.

Thanks.

So another busy summer is coming for Turkish Aviation.

Let me share with you the latest situation at ESB. At certain hours of the day, due to wave structure of Anadolujet flights, ESB is also congested.

The future is in the skies.

Ankara based defence company Havelsan announces that, it was awarded a contract from TK to install its SKYFE in-flight entertainment system to 44 airplanes (B737 series I suppose). They also mention that they are busy with certification of SKYFE on A320 airplanes:

With such large # of aircratf and hence passengers transiting thru IST: When are they going to streamline the IST passenger movements.
When you land at IST, you are greeted with parking at remote stand and bussed to/from terminal. Then huge crowds in the terminal itself and then changes to gate assignments are common.
It has happened to 4 out of our 4 flights to and from IST.

Last week on friday, I had a early morning departure flight out of LHR which landed around 1:30 pm at IST and parked at remote. I was the first one deboarded the aircraft and even we were on the remote, it took 25 minutes for me to reach the underground (no luggage with me of course)

IST is always an advanture, you can never predict how long it will take to get out of the airport.

A few weeks ago, I flew out of ADB and being TK Elite the experience was awesome. Separate VIP terminal, didn't wait a single second in a line and directly bused to the plane from the lounge! Very impressive!
On the other hand, BRU-SAW-ADB was pretty bad. No lounge/Priority Boarding/Fast security for you if you are connecting (unless you want to make the walk to the CIP terminal but there are absolutely no signs telling you where to go, you just have to know and if you are already past security, have fun going there...).
With the number of passengers connecting Intl->Dom in SAW, I find it completely absurd to not have signs or a bus service to the lounge.

Others here wrote that there are few lounges at SAW. But, I had to do the same thing. Last year went into SAW, went through security only to find out that the lounge has moved. I then had to walk back out the terminal West through some parking lot to find the awesome SAW lounge. Never transferred at SAW but I can see the problem. I took a route similar to this map below:

This is a good topic for those who want to follow and see pictures of the construction of the third airport.

http://wowturkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14464&start=4540

It's all Turkish discussions, but the plethora of pictures should suffice for our followers who don't speak Turkish

Also nice find with the Google Maps, I tried to find the airport construction from Maps myself but couldn't find it, wasn't looking hard enough I guess  Smile

But given the third bridge construction on Maps still has a major gap, this image of the third airport is probably slightly outdated by a couple of months. The bridge was connected from both sides a week or two ago. Still interesting to finally see it from Maps.

TK is reducing IST ATL to 5w for W16 and that seems to be the only North America route that goes to less than daily with the exception of the Canadian routes where TK is BASA restricted.

There must have been an OAG load mistake to start with as the plan for the route was always 5pw for W16. Internal scheduled for both Jan and Mar indicate planned 5pw ops in W16 not daily.

Well here are some markets that have been studied.

The 'New York' on this list is EWR.

We know SFO, MIA and ATL are on the schedule, so that would leave EWR, DFW, SEA, DTW, MCO DEN in the U.S, plus YVR in Canada.

Well, you forgot to include the TC-JPE (a 320-200 write-off after hard landing at IST). Reason for write-off: Beyond economical repair. The particular airframe was on lease from a 3rd party lessor; not one of TK's factory-direct planes.

They will be remained in current cabin configuration and will be primarily used for high density routes, wth restricted slots and for a smaller demand for business cabin (e.g. Bombay & Delhi routes...).

Also: the new 4-year lease of a single b777-300er frame --- no details yet but probably will have the same config. as the three ex-Kenya examples. Due to the short leasing period, looks to me more like a "gap filler" as the first 12 b777s purchased by TK (originally in 3-class config., now gradually converted into C49Y300 cabin) most probably will progressively undergo their time-taking D-Checks during 2017-2018 period.

BTW, as far as I know, the lease period for those 3 ex-Kenya b777 frames are still undisclosed? Anybody has any info on those?

Quoting LAXintl (Reply 40):

Great, thanks!
Will all 4 A340s re-configurated? There was news TC-JIH was retired last month.

Quoting mafaky (Reply 42):

Welcome to Airlines.net mafaky, great to see you here. I have seen your comments many times on Airporthaber.
TC-JPE has left fleet last year, the list shows changes of first quarter of this year.

Quoting TK787 (Reply 31):

Is this aircraft an additional one to those of Kenya Airways? If yes, where is this aircraft now flying?
Celestial Aviation Trading is a subsidiary of GECAS where the three B77W of Kenya AIrways are leased.

Quoting TK773ER (Reply 46):

Great video! Love it.

Quoting mafaky (Reply 47):

So if TK re-configurated their active A340s and they will be more than 20 years old, they can fly to Arabia?
