Former EK A332 For Air Transat

Mon Apr 04, 2016 10:19 pm

TS is apparently leasing this A330-243 from DAE Capital.

Per Skyliner:

Quote:
Airbus A330 -243 248 C-GJDA Air Transat regd 29mar16 prior delivery ex RKT ex A6-EKQ

Has been withdrawn from use in December and stored at RKT since February.

Won't be the first ex-EK frame for TS. A number of their A310s flying now are ex-EK as well.

And this will probably be an incremental replacement for one of the 6th hand (originally Wardair) 1988 build A310s. Amazing to see how long the A310s have lasted in the TS fleet.

They did the same with some of their L-1011s. C-FTNA which is grounded at LYS since 2001, joined the fleet in 1988 but started flying with EA/AC in 1972. C-FTNC was their first aircraft and was operated between 1987 and 2001/2002 but was delivered to AC/EA in 1972.

Yesterday it flew RKT-CDG, and currently it's enroute from CDG to... probably YUL.

I bet the A310s arrived with less hours/cycles!

Hope they are cheap as they are well used...VA had a couple which were always going tech and were removed from the fleet

Those still in TS fleet had previously served 9-10 years with EK whereas this A332 has already clocked 17 years of service.

My one and only L-1011 flight was on C-FTNG on Jan 1 2004, MCO-YYZ. Must have been one of the last flights before being retired.

TS has a fairly unique strategy of acquiring its fleet one or two at a time. Certainly makes for a fleet with interesting history.

Is the aircraft delivered with EK's cabin interior or has EK removed everything so that Air Transat can put in their own seats straight away?
Come, fly the prevailing winds with me

Don't know that, but I notice it didn't went to TS hangar but instead headed to the terminal.

Presumably so the crew can clear customs?

Are these leased A332s replacing A310s or just adding capacity?

I assume they will be in the 3-3-3 config with the new(er) interiors?

A332s have always been 3-3-3 with TS.

Yes this is true. Hopefully TS has better luck with theirs. I wonder how the two that VA got rid of are doing at Azul?
