If not it seems crazy to introduce 767s whose interiors leave much to be desired on what presumably is meant to be a competitor to a superior AF product.

They last underwent D checks in 2012/3 AFAIK, I think this 767 might just be a hot spare or used if any of the flights particularly oversold. It's worth noting OpenSkies did have a fourth 757 aircraft (F-GPEJ) until 2011 when BA sold it to Privatair.

It migh be a good idea to fly 757s twice a day to JFK while the 767 would take care of EWR. This way they would increase capacity on both airports, compete with AF with two daily ORY-JFK flights and offer more premium (C and W) seats on the better premium route.

Even better if the 757 premium cabins see a good refresher.

There is really no need or want to deploy that much capacity on EWR for an airline, unless that airline is United or part of Star Alliance. Even the largest foreign carrier in the New York metropolitan area, British Airways, flies 8+ daily to JFK with nothing smaller than 777s and 747s yet only deploys a single 787 on EWR.

Its 2x daily 787 to be precise plus 8 x daily LHR to JFK, 1x daily LGW to JFK (soon) and 2x daily LCY to JFK for completeness

But your point is still valid: However I suspect that is partly demand and partly deliberate -to do with the scale of investment that BA has at JFK and sweating that asset base

At Newark BA faces of against United, which we all know has a huge hub there, and UA flies 5 or 6 times daily to Heathrow, like Chicago where UA & AA have many more flights then BA to London. BA has the largest single share to LHR from JFK and is the biggest airline in the NYC to LHR market.

BA does very well in other markets, they own Boston with 4 flights to LHR. LAX, Houston, Miami and San Francisco are also very strong BA routes.

Any idea on what's planned for the 757s internally or externally? I'm presuming reprinting into a single livery for the fleet of three would be a priority.

Well, all four of the long haul configured 767s that lasted into summer 2016 have now left BA mainline service. G-BNWI has gone to CBG, apparently to be prepared for OpenSkies service. BNWY is at LHR out of service, BNWW is at BA Maintenance CWL for removal of BA specific components before scrapping. BNWM has passed through Cardiff and is at St Athan for scrapping.
Those that said only BNWI would fly for OpenSkies have been proved right.

Correction:
BNWY managed a domestic flight to Edinburgh yesterday evening, and returned this morning. Not dead yet.

So the 767 will also feature the same BizBed (full-flat front- and rear-facing business class seats), PremPlus (premium economy product using "domestic first"-type seats) and regular eco cabins as the OpenSkies 752s?

I don't see Y78 in the article. It says Y141 vs Y66 for the 757.
