Air Canada Sold Two E190s To Boeing?

Sat Apr 09, 2016 7:49 pm

Just curious as to why these two AC Embraer 190s are headed for Boeing.

20 E190s were sold to Boeing as part of the MAX order by AC. 19 of the fleet have left so far....

Yes, it is part of the deal with Boeing for the 737 max. All 20 are then being moved to Delta. Which I can see being flipped to American, Jet Blue, or Republic.

Delta is not flipping them. They bought them to fly them... But what makes you think Delta could get more money for them from their competitors than what Boeing could?

If I understand correctly, they had 45 before, and now they are down to about 25.

That's a lot of lost lift. What is there to pick up the slack in the meantime before the CS300s arrive?

AC has added 5x 321, 2x 320 and 5x E175 (op by Sky Regional as AC Express) as the 19 E190(soon 20) have been withdrawn.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Plus the 5 A321s added to Rouge and 777s/787s being added helps replace some 319/320 routes that are now shifting to more E190 routes....

Think of it this way... You own a Chevy, but are trading it in for the new Ford model. The Ford dealership is not going to turn you away because you own a Chevy. They'll take it in trade and resell it. Aircraft are no different. Air Canada is getting rid of their E190s and buying Boeing planes. Boeing will resell the E190s. I'm sure they'll do it as a package deal with an airline looking to increase capacity. Buy two 737s, get a E190 half price.

DL may not take the E190?????? Says who?

Quoting flightsimer (Reply 7):

Boeing would only sell them to somebody who they thought it would not harm 737 sales. That makes the list of buyers shorter. DL can sell to anybody, BUT I doubt they will sell.

I believe it's discussed in this thread:

Start reading at Reply 57. Nothing certain, but sometimes people who are connected and "ponder" things are really hinting at something more. Other times, they don't really know anymore than the rest of us, obviously.

At least one of the E190s have been sold on by Boeing already to scrapping firms... whether that means anything I don't know?

I don't think Delta will be flipping them at all, but I can say one thing for sure, they're not going to Republic. Republic just got rid of the last of their original E190s for good. They can't operate them under CPAs for the majors, and as such no longer want anything to do with them or any other aircraft outside the 75-seat class. Republic is shooting for a single fleet type (E170/175) and a single operating certificate as soon as possible.
Now you're flying smart

DL is only taking 19 not 20.
Not sure why the deal changed from the first time but it did. 40 739s and 20 E90s down to 20 739s and 19 E90s.

Its a pilot rumor.
Like i said in that thread, DL has already done a lot of gearing up for them not to take the E90s.
Its going to cost someone a very pretty penny to get that order dumped.

I don't doubt it, and I expect to see the E190. However, strange things take place behind the scenes.
