Why not NH? A top up order to 5 would seem to make a lot of sense. Very unlikely this is a new operator for 2 frames, so has to be top up.

Other candidates:
-QR said it was considering exercising its options now
-EK of course

I think it very unlikely to be EK. Ek has stil 65 frames ordered and undelivered, a two frame order does not make sense.
I expect a repeat order by an airline having a few A380 already. My guess would one and most likely, BA having got a good price offered for the two former Skymark frames standing around in TLS. Two would be QR and three EY.

NH is taking 3 frames, never specified what frames or a MSN number up to now. Anyway, Skymatk had six on order, NH could take later frames.

It seems Airbus never started assembly of the later Skymark frames though. Maybe some suppliers cut steel for them but much of that work could presumably have been applied to any other production A380.

The third Skymark was pretty near to be convoyed according to the MSN185 number. Later frames could easily been in pre FAL production.

Boeing just got four 747-8F orders for undisclosed customers, somehow I do not see the same comments on that thread. Is there not a 20 frames MOU for 20 747-8F by AirBridgeCargo expected to save that bird? The percentage of dodgy orders for the 747-8 higher? At least the A380 is not pushing deferred production cost forward.

Richard Anderson is ordering these two just to make a.net's resident Boeing fanboys lose their minds.   I'm looking forwards to the letters to congresspeople and the lawsuits.

On a more serious note, Willy Walsh was making noises recently indicating that they would like some more. I wonder if Lufthansa or Korean Air could do with a few more?

That is not the point. In this thread Airbus is accused of fabricating orders. That for example the two orders Airbus is declaring now were somewhat dodgy. I was just wondering why people does not mention similar things when the 747 orders are concerned.
But if it seems OK to you to just spill the hate on that VLA that still has at least some orders to be produced so be it.

My guesses

1) NH top up

now unconventional.

2) Russia: - 2 State Planes for Russia - especially to top up the much smaller US Presidents 747-8i

For Putin it all about to break american pride and self understanding. Who has the largest? Plays an important role there.

For A380 end of 2015 and 2016 has been a good period.

It getting new orders and some of the old orders that are dead in the water are erased from the books.

And in total we see a increase of orders even not backlog yet because of production.

Airbus seems to be of the same impression saying that CEO can be sold a few more years moving NEO from 2020 to 2025 and increasing CASM of the current offering.

That's the rugby livery. It definitely made the Koru smaller.

The existing livery doesn't seem to make it smaller at all.

minced words. gobbledegook.

In an orders race you always "win orders". Even if that individual order was uncontested.
At the end of the year you win from having won more orders than the competitor.
( or the BFanCorp rallies into action and steals the goalposts losing them somewhere else
like "deliveries and nothing else counts" year after that might be "oldest design counts" .

I think QR could pick them up, be good for them to expand A380 services to MEL and eventually SYD, although freight could be interesting as MEL is always full in the holds- odly with a lot of meat.

I would love to see QF take two being SYD-LAX back to daily, increase HKG again. However are two worth the investment probably not.

Indeed. some time ago I talked to a neighbour of mine who is an A380 engineer and he said that they have already - for a long time - considered the Virgin order for 6 planes to be dead, just to name an example.

So most dubious orders are certainly erased by now.
