I think, at some point, they'll try to use those "LATAM" titles in a bigger version, as a billboard scheme. A la PanAm.

A little better but still pretty ordinary.

While I will sorely miss the TAM and LAN liveries, I actually can't wait to see this livery completely painted. It looks bad now but the plane isn't even finished. The A320 rendering actually looks really good. It's a good blend of the two airlines and while not as colorful, it does a good job of bringing awareness to the combined carrier.

Quite bland and I'm not a fan of the color scheme. I also never really liked LAN's color scheme - it must be the purple. With TAM's livery, it's just too red and the titles too big.

I'd love to see the designs that were rejected. It seems management went with the blandest possible option to avoid showing preference to either TAM or LAN's prior designs. Pity.

I've asked this in another thread, and received no answer. I am genuinely curious what differentiates "eurowhite" from "white". Are there other continental variants of white? What do Australwhite or Afrowhite look like?

This is a great example of how "Negative Space" can kill the original design of a logo. The 4 bands on the tail are zoomed in too close to even identify with the full logo. The previous post by LatinPlane clearly shows the missed opportunity on the tail. Had they went with a more traditional placement of the logo on the tail (like in the bottom picture of "Our Universe starts here"), it would have made much more sense.

I don't hate the logo, nor the wordmark, but the implementation on the aircraft is a disappointment.

This. I dislike the livery, but I love the general corporate identity.

I don't know, there was a way to make it appealing, even if it's a simple livery. Think Varig.

Hopefully it will look better in good quality pictures (have you noticed that all the people who leak these things seem to have cameraphones from 2004?).

I think it's a wonderful business case to have a powerful carrier that represents all of South America, but the livery is so disappointing being so generic and neutrally bland. On the other hand, LATAM's management thinks it is "elegant". It think this is a marketing mistake.

How I miss watching the liveries of each independent Latin American carrier proudly marketing the names of their home countries with their own unique liveries.

I think it's a great logo but TERRIBLE colors. The first video of the new scheme doesn't look that bad at all but I believe titles are very small. I'm sure this scheme WON'T last.

That Varig and Lan Chile scheme was amazing!

Good bye LAN!

All I can say is I'm not a fan. I know the logo is supposed to represent the South American continent but you wouldn't know it just by looking the the oversized logo on the tail. Looks like random ribbons of colour. And there's just something that irks me about the shape of the "LATAM" typeface

Why obscure the logo to a few stripes on the tail? "Negative space" gone too far.

Of course I'd just prefer them to take LAN's current livery and replace the titles with LATAM.

Thanks runway23. The idea was to have two variations. Blue tail honouring LAN, Red tail honouring TAM. It's late here (YYC), so not too much thought into it, but not a bad attempt?

I believe that, given their new scheme, an AF/KLM strategy of maintaining the liveries would be best. But we'll see. I just wish there was a little more color on the aircraft.

Atleast with european airlines it works. The LH "Kranich", the LX "cross" or the AF "Tricolore" are iconic and beautiful in their own way. But the recent new liveries like IB, MU or now LATAM are just some unicolours splashed on a tail with little to no meaning. Absolutely hideous!

I'n not necessarily crazy about the new livery, but I'm sure it will look better in daylight on a real plane.

But I do certainly understand the need for a change, and frankly surprised it took this long. LAN has expanded from being a Chilean national carrier to being multi-national, even before merging with TAM. LAN Peru, LAN Ecuador, LAN Argentina. But the livery is based on the Chilean flag, which likely doesn't set well for the regional branches, never mind Brasil.

So something politically neutral makes sense, and the outline of South America works in that regard.
Worked for WestAir, Apollo Airways, Desert Pacific, Western, AirCal and American Airlines (Retired). Flight Memory: 181 airports, 92 airlines, 78 a/c types, 403 routes, 58 countries (by air), 6 continents. 1,119,414 passenger miles.

Here are the other three final design concepts. #3 was selected and other than the tail, I agree that it was the best one to be selected.

I think any of them would have been "fine" - were it not for the absolute beauty of the LAN brand. Compared to it, this new livery and branding is just not as exciting.

Thanks for sharing this. #1 would have been a clone of Avianca, #2 would have been even less inspiring than the final new logo. While I do think that they chose the best design out of the three finalists, I wish they had gone with the blue engines as well. Those would have given the livery at least a little bit of character.

While I do think that they chose the best design out of the three finalists, I wish they had gone with the blue engines as well. Those would have given the livery at least a little bit of character.

I agree with you, the white engines make liveries look incomplete. See what Aeromexico did with its 787s! It makes my OCD kick in.

As a side note, I often find these branding comments quite interesting... re: "[...] the latin personality; the warmth of its people," "[...] energetic and alive, in accordance with latin heritage." I honestly do not feel any of that by looking at these liveries! I would if I was looking at Mexicana's old colorful tails, though.
