if they can add 6 gates, they could probably have UA and WN in E, B6, F9, NK in D with DL and UA overflow with AS, VX, AA on C. That would probably give them the balance the POP seeks.

If they put Southwest on E, it would be a nightmare. Concourse E is only half the width of C & D. It's super crowded with just United and Air Canada. The POP would be better off putting Southwest on D and then the smaller airlines over on E.

I must confess that I was kind of hoping for a 15-20 gate extension of CC-E.....There's no harm in preparing for the future..........

Does anyone remember or have pictures of when Air Canada Jazz flew BAe-146 jets YVR-PDX in the Summer of 2002 I believe? I remember seeing those flying into PDX and absolutely loving them! Would love to see some pictures of them in Portland if anyone has any.

They were and still are one of the coolest airplanes around. I've always been jealous of London City because of all of those cool old -146's.

Delta has struggled to make that a year-round route and just recently made it so. Alaska is a different story, but I think there are better markets they could introduce before DTW.

ATL year round would be nice again. MCO is a great re-introduction, and EWR, FLL, IAH, MSY, and ABQ come to mind as the top 5 that Alaska WILL add in the near future IMO. IAD would be nice also but United does that route well.

Delta is already selling tickets for their new PDX-LHR flight starting May 26, 2017. Interestingly it appears Delta has loaded the new flights as only 3x/week instead of the announced 4x/week.

From the Delta PDX-LHR PR:
"The flight will be operated four days per week from May 26, 2017, through Oct. 29, 2017"

What gives? Backtracking on their plans already?

That would be interesting. I thought for sure BA would have announced by now. If it is in-fact 3x weekly, Delta may have realized that the O&D only might not work out.

On another note, SY appears to be 2x daily (at least some days MSP-PDX) and it looks like PDX-ANC is also now part of the Sun Country network as is SEA-ANC.

DL's new PDX-LHR route will likely greatly affect BA's/DL's SEA-LHR LFs. Having flown PDX-SEA-LHR-SEA-PDX several times, there are always many many people connecting on to PDX, as seen from the baggage tags at SEA FIS baggage carousel. And that doesn't even count the people who make the drive up from Oregon to SEA just to take a nonstop to the UK. The nonstop will be so convenient for everyone in Oregon/SW Washington. Already have my ticket booked.

If DL's PDX-LHR bookings are healthy, perhaps they will extend it to year round, as they did with SLC, and even add PDX-CDG.
In SLC the scenario went as follows: DL Announced seasonal SLC-AMS. Updated SLC-AMS to year round. KLM announces seasonal SLC-AMS. Announced seasonal SLC-LHR. Updated SLC-LHR to year round.

I just got the notice as well via email too!!...I'm thinking it's probably going to be Cathay Pacific cargo, but I wouldn't mind seeing the return of All Nippon Cargo.........On a side note the north runway will be closed from 8am-10am tomorrow so tomorrow will be a great day for PDX plane spotting.....I'm still dying to see the final revised version of CC-E!! People actually do that? I'd rather connect somewhere than make that multihour drive, probably sit in the Tacoma traffic jam for 45 minutes, maybe another in Centralia, and pay for way more expensive parking at SEA to leave my car.

I have seen many people going to Asia via Europe and Dubai drive to SEA from Portland area. I have picked up/dropped family members that way too.

Looks like PDX just got new air cargo service. Cathay Pacific operating a 747-8F twice a week, begins in November.

PDX Stats are helpful, but does anyone know off-hand how Icelandair, Condor, and Air Canada to YYZ is doing so far?

I'm not sure about AC, but FI and DE seem to be doing great. I think FI is going almost year round next year (I believe February is the only month PDX won't be served by FI) and DE has added some additional frequency.

Alaska will start PDX-EWR in November 2016.

They may look to increase frequency to some of the transcons and Hawaii. They have been toying with that second HNL flight for a while. I wonder if BOS/DCA/EWR could take a second flight.

PDX-ABQ was done only by WN I think. Whenever I traveled, it was full. However, it was always going onward to other destinations.
PDX-DEN will be great, though there is quite a bit of competition I guess.
PDX-PIT will be nice too, giving another option for visiting Niagara falls.

Yep, there's decent demand on this route, and DL not only charges a premium, but I think their non-stop is seasonal, and a red eye in one direction. At least that's how it's been in the past.

Yes I see it in the schedule. But that's nearly 12 months out. Schedules are far from being finalized.

Currently DL does a 1x daily seasonal red eye PDX-DTW.

SEA-DTW has 9x daily: DL(7x) and AS(2x).

Surely there is room for more flights. AS could probably get away with doing daytime PDX-DTW and do very well.

Been away from the thread awhile... and the new site is taking some time to get used to.

Anyways, good to see what's coming up for PDX. I hope that the Port comes up with a solution to expanding E sooner rather than later, regardless of AS' future with the Q400s. Construction is continuing on having the ABC secure exit in the ticketing area to (add another security lane?). As it is, the area right around Stanford's and Nike is so dark and cramped that I hope it gets opened up. As PDX approaches 18, 19, 20, 21, million passengers it is a good thing to plan for the future. The new cell phone waiting lot with a gas station is sorely needed. In addition, the new parking garage that lhpdx brought up should have happened years ago in an effort to consolidate the rental car companies.

As for AS, hopefully EWR and MCO will become successes and will stick around.

As with the recent EWR adds to AS cities on the Left Coast, I hope AS will continue to add competitive flights out of SAN to other cx monopoly hub routes; DTW is a perfect example (+ as a bonus, it's a shot at DL!) I've thought for a few years now -- since AS started ramping things up at Lindbergh Field, that DTW-by-AS was a given eventually. (MSP is another example but in addition to DL, SY is already on that route out of SAN.)

In any case, I'm glad to hear there are rumors out there regarding AAG and DTW. I'm sure those new routes would be successful, just as I expect EWR to be!

DL vacated the space? Or is there an older space and a current DL Club?

Delta had 2 Crown Rooms at PDX back in their gateway days. The one not being used is upstairs between D5 and D7. You can see the windows over looking the concourse.
