Quoting LSZH34 (Reply 2): Are we talking about NEO's or CEO's? Are these additional 30 aircraft to the 40 already ordered? |
Quoting johns624 (Reply 3): I'm glad Airbus won it. I'd hate to have Boeing "win" an order for some 321's... |
Quoting gilesdavies (Reply 4): Marvellous news, the airline must be very happy with the recently received new A321's that have just joined the fleet, to place this top-up order! |
Quoting TheRedBAron (Reply 5): |
Quoting gilesdavies (Reply 4): I was secretly hoping they might be launch customer of the A321neo LR, but going by this article they seem to be the bog standard A321neo's. |
Quoting deltal1011man (Reply 1): Rumor mill says they might have V2500s on them not CFM56-5Bs also. |
Quoting LAX772LR (Reply 8): I wonder if this is possibly indicative of a dedicated transcon subfleet? |
Quoting LAX772LR (Reply 8): Interesting. Don't think V2500s have the better longer-distance performance? |

Quoting flyabr (Reply 11): That's interesting. Maybe the V2500 birds would be used on longer haul routes like DTW-PHX or say ATL-LAS?? Keep the CFM birds on shorter routes like MCO-ATL?? |

Quoting 9w748capt (Reply 17): Do they not teach the proper use of apostrophes anymore? Or should I say apostrophe's? |
Quoting deltal1011man (Reply 18): I wouldn't say Boeing is the loser here. |
Quoting bucky707 (Reply 21): The 757 fleet will be pretty stable for the next 5-10 years. |
Quoting gilesdavies (Reply 4): Marvellous news, the airline must be very happy with the recently received new A321's that have just joined the fleet, to place this top-up order! |
Quoting RayChuang (Reply 20): I wonder is this A321 order for one reason: replace the starting-to-age 757-200 fleet on longer routes on the DL system. |
Quoting zeke (Reply 22): They average age of the 757-200 fleet is 20 years, with some frames over 30 years old. I see any of the frames beyond 25 years could be replaced sooner rather than later, probably talking about 20-30 frames initially. |
Quoting TheRedBAron (Reply 5): I bet DL wants this A321 Fleet to compete with Jet Blue mint product and have some capacity growth, but lets wait for the announcement on the order ... |
Quoting deltal1011man (Reply 18): Plus with almost 1000 mainline plus a big DCI fleet it is just simply impossible to buy from one OEM. |
Quoting catiii (Reply 24): Have you met Delta? Age has never been an issue... |
Quoting deltal1011man (Reply 7): Quoting johns624 (Reply 3): I'm glad Airbus won it. I'd hate to have Boeing "win" an order for some 321's... Boeing just won a 20 frame order not that long ago for 739s. |
Quoting deltal1011man (Reply 7): The article didn't say anything about NEOs |
Quoting zeke (Reply 27): Quoting catiii (Reply 24): Have you met Delta? Age has never been an issue... Well they are looking at replacing their older MD-88s with CS300, and to phase out the 744 next year which contradicts that. If age was not an issue DL could have just purchased 30 second hand A321s from the market with lower CAPEX. |
Quoting 9w748capt (Reply 17): Do they not teach the proper use of apostrophes anymore? Or should I say apostrophe's? Good Lord. |
Quoting reltney (Reply 29): The 321 needed major mods to come close to 757 performance |
Quoting gilesdavies (Reply 4): I was secretly hoping they might be launch customer of the A321neo LR, but going by this article they seem to be the bog standard A321neo's. |
Quoting reltney (Reply 29): Funny. The 321 needed major mods to come close to 757 performance. Why Boeing missed the opportunity to continue to rule this market is reason to fire those in charge. |

Quoting gilesdavies (Reply 4): They seem to really have taken a liking to Airbus in the last 18-24 months, before that only having the inherited NW Airbus fleet. |
Quoting gilesdavies (Reply 4): Marvellous news, the airline must be very happy with the recently received new A321's that have just joined the fleet, to place this top-up order! |
Quoting rta (Reply 9): The A321 really seems like a great aircraft for Delta's network. I'm glad they're adding more. |

Quoting reltney (Reply 29): Why Boeing missed the opportunity to continue to rule this market is reason to fire those in charge. |
Quoting coolian2 (Reply 35): Nobody was buying the 757. Apart from additional fuel tank ability, much of what has changed in the A321 are simple weight savings and advances in engine technology. I won't include the sharklets as they apply to the entire Airbus narrowbody fleet. What other major mods were there? |
Quoting zeke (Reply 22): |
Quoting mayor (Reply 25): |
Quoting DocLightning (Reply 34): Now, who the heck needs that kind of performance? Believe it or not, airlines don't want to fly a 752 from SFO to NRT. For flights that long, frequency becomes less important than efficiency. |
Quoting rj968 (Reply 36): Delta had 30 Airbus A-310's 1991-95. 21 from Pan Am and 9 leased directly from AB. |
Quoting reltney (Reply 29): Nuff said and will not respond . Facts are facts. Flame away flamers.... |
Quoting TheRedBAron (Reply 42): Agree as much as Anet loves the 757, and countless threads about its early demise from production, none of th e current single aisle can touch it, the MEW is tons above the current offering by A and B. |
Quoting catiii (Reply 23): You mean the one that they have that is still sitting at the hangar and hasn't flown a revenue flight yet? Thrilled I'm sure... |
Quoting deltal1011man (Reply 41): DL isn't keeping almost 100 752s around because they like them, its simply because the 321 or 739 or 321NEO or 739MAX......just isn't a 757. DL is pushing for a real replacement not a 80% replacement. |
Quoting deltal1011man (Reply 41): DL and UA are both pushing Boeing for a 757 with GTFs. |
Quoting DocLightning (Reply 45): Source? And no, don't tell me to look it up. You made the claim. |
Quoting reltney (Reply 29): |
Quoting nikeherc (Reply 31): The proper use for apostrophes is to indicate the possessive or a contraction. It is no to indicate plurals. i.e. John's baseball wasn't on the table. It dated from the 1960s. There were a number of 737s at the airport. |
