Quoting webuser (Thread starter): "The Board has acknowledged Mr Mueller’s plan to leave ahead of time, which is due to his changing personal circumstances, and has commenced a search for a new CEO, which will encompass both internal and external potential candidates," |
Quoting TheFlyingDisk (Reply 1): I'm hoping the change in his personal circumstance |
Quoting TheFlyingDisk (Reply 1): I'm hoping the change in his personal circumstance is actually that - a change in his personal circumstance. If he was pushed out, I will never forgive the ones who shoved him. |
Quoting justplanes (Reply 7): On a slightly different/more positive note... in my 25 years of dealing with hundreds and hundreds of airlines I have to say that since I started working with Malaysia Airlines about 6 months ago these people have been nothing short of fantastic! Wish more Asian airlines were half as great to deal with as MAS is! |
Quoting 9MMPQ (Reply 8): So will it be make, break or back to the past ? |
Quoting LondonCity (Reply 9): And what will the high fare business traveller think when he finds it's a 747 operating his/her KUL-LHR flight and not an A380 ? |
Quoting LondonCity (Reply 9): But not serving alcoholic drinks on regional flights of under 3 hours |
Quoting LondonCity (Reply 9): One hopes so. But not serving alcoholic drinks on regional flights of under 3 hours will not endear the airline to the lucrative business class passenger. And what will the high fare business traveller think when he finds it's a 747 operating his/her KUL-LHR flight and not an A380 ? |

Quoting KaiTak747 (Reply 10): The 747 will only sub for the A380 on an ad hoc basis, I would imagine hardly ever. And the hard products are not too different I believe. |
Quoting UA444 (Reply 12): If they don't have a replacement lined up, and he's leaving in 5 months, he's probably leaving on his own terms and hasn't been pushed out. If he left tomorrow that's Being pushed out. |

Quoting BestWestern (Reply 2): Very disappointed with this move. As we have discussed previously, this is a very political company and most probably he couldn't do what he wanted to turn the company around. |
Quoting OA260 (Reply 3): I wondered how long he would last. Seems they were not really that interested in turning the company around ! Shame... |
Quoting col (Reply 16): My guess is that by Sept the new CEO will have a pretty cleaned up airline. |
Quoting col (Reply 16): KUL is my home town airport and you can see the changes being made every visit. |
Quoting enilria (Reply 5): I think it was just an excellent time to leave. He stopped the ship from sinking. Threw a new coat of paint on things. He probably feels the next phase is much harder and was looking to cash out and stepping stone it up the ladder somewhere else. |
Quoting webuser (Reply 15): From memory it will be for 2 flights a week, and only as MH1 and MH4.. which one of these is a full day flight.. can't remember the source, will need to find it again. |
Quoting LondonCity (Reply 21): KUL-LHR daytime flight is MH4. MH is the overnight return from LHR. |
Quoting UKtoOzFlyer (Reply 20): There was a comment elsewhere that has suggested Mr Mueller's wife / kids / family are still back in the Republican of Ireland, and never made the move to KL together. |
Quoting webuser (Reply 17): New CEO meaning Christoph Muller? |
Quoting webuser (Reply 17): Would be great if you could share the changes you have noted? |
Quoting col (Reply 16): Please re-read the article. Especially the comments from the Chairman and Christoph. If you want a CEO out it is immediate. You don't want to continue to improve, then you stop the CEO plans also. They have agreement he will stay until Sept and continue the process. My guess is that by Sept the new CEO will have a pretty cleaned up airline. |
Quoting anfromme (Reply 18): In my experience, he's not somebody to just throw in the towel looking for the next gig. |
Quoting webuser (Reply 15): I hope MAS will be able to maintain the current plans as laid down by Chis Muller moving forward and not repeat its historical cycle of getting bloated/fat again. |
Quoting enilria (Reply 26): If he got to a point where he thought politically going any further was intractable then now is the time to leave. He had a lot more flexibility at EI. |
Quoting UKtoOzFlyer (Reply 20): But perhaps living apart from ones family is not as easy as it sounds... |
Quoting TheFlyingDisk (Reply 25): But given how government interference is the norm, it's the first thought that comes to mind, you know. Bad enough that a few months ago Anwar's daugther brought up the foreigner CEO issue again because they got nothing else to play on politically... |
Quoting webuser (Reply 35): You can thank Qantas for that. That aside, why do you wish MAS is part of Skyteam? |
