Continental Retrojet, Repainted Into Regular C/S?

Sat Apr 23, 2016 2:56 am

Hello All:

Saw on a spotters FB site that the UA 737-900ER CO retrojet has been repainted into the regular UA livery. Can anyone confirm?

I think it'd be cool we see two retro jets from the same era. Both Saul Bass liveries would be cool. Rainbow with the tulip and a red or black meatball. CO on a sUA A320 and UA on a sCO 737.
When wasn't America great?

Will be a shame if so. Always a pleasure to work that one when it comes in. Brings a smile to my face seeing it roll around the corner to my gate.

If so then N475UA will also likely be repainted so as well. To have one and not the other will not sit well...

So? The airline is named United and the CO side has the entire fleet in their livery. That, and the CO retro jet was around for 7 years while the UA one has been here for just 5.

Hopefully this isn't true. I want a rising blue and battleship grey retrolivery as well

Not a flame war, just fact. One was around for 7 years while the other has been here for only 5. And the one that's been here for 5 has the name of the correct airline on it.

Wouldn't be too hard to do a retro livery and put the current name on it. US Airways/American have been doing it for ages. UA would probably even put the name in the font that goes with the livery, unlike the HP retrojet that looks unfinished.

How 'bout we just repaint the entire fleet in a new, fresh livery! I'd love to see a new paint job with some more color in it.

How about they incorporate "United Continental Holdings, Inc." into all of their liveries and ensure every employee who is still clinging onto the past has an aneurysm?

It DOES appear to have been out of action for over a week recently...that does get me suspicious that it is true.

Oh it's quite true, only painting is done at AMA... It's due out today if on schedule.

Correction; it flew AMAIAH yesterday and is currently planned for the SJU tonight.

I believe UAs standard is 7 years for paint so it makes sense.

My guess is the next time the retro bus goes for paint, it too will emerge in the regular livery.

Topic has already been covered in the United Fleet thread (please reference reply 128 from last week). Please continue this discussion there, along with any other United fleet information or speculation.
