Rome, NY is about to be packed with 170s from Republic. Currently 11 170s on their way or already there to be returned to the lessors effective today.

Couple questions...(of course) who were they flying for? what is replacing them? find it interesting in this age of moving to the 170/175 and up from the 50 seaters and even the cr7's that Republic could not make it work....

If you check Flight Aware for flights to RME (link was provided) you can see the N numbers, then just look in the photo database and you can see who they were flying for...

It's not so much that those 170s weren't working for RAH -- It's that, as part of their Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, the lessors are are taking the aircraft back. Whether or not they're working for the RAH fleet is irrelevant at that point.
I'd take the awe of understanding over the awe of ignorance any day.

In My Opinion, Air Wisconsin should run and get them... It can only help their ability to fever sift. If they can't find a carrier partner to operate them, fly them at risk.... Make a Nassau hublet or a Bermuda hublet and fly east coast routes... In my opinion, weekly Caribbean routes are underserved...

Given that a lot of them came in (or are coming in from) AA hubs, I'm assuming they're mainly coming from AA.

Every time I think RAH has a handle on things something else strange like this happens. Hmm. Wonder if they're about to fall from grace in AA's eyes as badly or worse than they did with DL. Though I guess they did smooth things over with DL pretty well.
YX cert to AA and S5 cert to DL? UA E175s to Skywest or Mesa? Maybe they really are going belly up.

This is a direct result of the bankruptcy. They were paying the lessor more in ownership than the legacies were paying them so the judge let them out of the leases. They'll now go and try to renegotiate I'm sure.

7 had already arrived prior to this post from Friday on, the 8th is about to touch down and another 8 are scheduled through the remainder of today.
The lessors are not taking them back, Republic is giving them back.
These are the oldest E170's around.
So far I can confirm the following have all arrived and are all ex MidAtlantic frames
802MD (Ln13)
807MD (20)
812MD (30)
816MA (37)
822MD (43)

Duplicate thread - being discussed already in YX Restructuring thread. These are old birds. 15 of them have been parked for long time, the remaining 15 or so are being parked now. Time for these 170's to go - good riddance. AA YX will be all 76 and 80 seater flying now for the most part, with a sprinkle of 69 seaters left. Most of our schedules next month have hardly any 170 flying.

Is twelve years old for an ERJ-170/175? Too old for a multi-year lease by a U.S. regional? Really, nothing but scrap value?
