Quoting g500 (Thread starter): I'm surprised he settled for a G-200...I'd thought he'd go top-shelf, G-550, G-650 or Global 6000/5000 |
Quoting g500 (Thread starter): I wonder what Messi owns???? |
Quoting AirbusA6 (Reply 3): Can't see why footballers would need to own their own private jet |
Quoting g500 (Thread starter): I'm surprised he settled for a G-200 |
Quoting Mir (Reply 2): Can't see why footballers would need to own their own private jet |
Quoting g500 (Thread starter): Supposedly he owns a condo in the Trump Tower in New York |
Quoting AirbusA6 (Reply 3): the amount of time off is so limited... |
Quoting GE9X (Reply 8): Bill Gates once said his greatest splurge and guilty luxury was his private jet. It's justified when you consider it saves invaluable time when you're a busy and/or important person, not to mention the benefits of comfort and privacy. It must be exhausting to be a highly famous person traveling in public and not being able to catch a break from fans asking for autographs, pictures etc. |
Quoting Aesma (Reply 5): I don't follow football too closely but I seem to remember a story about a team not too happy about players doing just that and partying too hard, so they wrote in their contract that they had to travel with the team. |
Quoting AirbusA6 (Reply 3): Can't see why footballers would need to own their own private jet, when for so much of the season their movements are entirely controlled by their clubs or national team, and the amount of time off is so limited... |
Quoting g500 (Thread starter): Supposedly he owns a condo in the Trump Tower in New York and likes to spend time in Los Angeles... that G-200 won't be able to get him there non-stop from Europe |

Quoting N1120A (Reply 4): He flies Turkish Airlines |
Quoting Mir (Reply 2): But I am surprised he went with the G200 considering you can get a Challenger 300 for that sort of money these days, and that's a better airplane in pretty much every way compared to the G200. |
Quoting BaconButty (Reply 19): Neymar might be better off without his jet, I've heard it's got a tendency to spontaneously go into a dive. |
Quoting mandala499 (Reply 20): Having stepped on board both the G280 and the Challenger 350, the latter is a lot nicer... However, everyone has their reasons and tastes... |
Quoting goosebayguy (Reply 23): |
Quoting goosebayguy (Reply 23): How does it all work for an owner? |
Quoting hilram (Reply 16): Like MAD-EWR |
Quoting mandala499 (Reply 20): Having stepped on board both the G280 and the Challenger 350, the latter is a lot nicer... |
Quoting goosebayguy (Reply 23): Okay so lets say we buy a jet and tend not to use it too often? Do we have flight crew sitting around but being paid? |
Quoting goosebayguy (Reply 23): Do the flight crew take it flying to keep up their hours? |
Quoting goosebayguy (Reply 23): Or when we do travel how much dies it cost to put the flight crew in hotels. |
Quoting LCYFlyer (Reply 24): Today, its much cheaper just to rent a jet rather than having your own. |
Quoting DashTrash (Reply 25): G200s can be had cheap at the moment. I highly doubt he spent $19m on it.... |
Quoting Mir (Reply 27): The article said it was a G200, not a G280. The G280 is a very different airplane from the G200, so I was basing my statement on that. |
Quoting Mir (Reply 2): But I am surprised he went with the G200 considering you can get a Challenger 300 for that sort of money these days, and that's a better airplane in pretty much every way compared to the G200. |
Quoting rbavfan (Reply 12): So he buys a cheaper jet. Maybe he wants money to play with rather than going broke on a single toy. |
Quoting hilram (Reply 14): With the range of 3400nm it could still go TATL right? |
Quoting N1120A (Reply 10): For Gates, it is also a security issue. |
Quoting mandala499 (Reply 28): Some cheap ones (G200 and CL300s) running at $10m... It really is a buyer's market out there at the moment... |
Quoting Mir (Reply 27): Depends. If you don't use the aircraft much, then chartering is better. But if you use it a lot, it's better to have your own. It's much like a car - you have to pay for insurance and parking anyway, so if you only use it a few times a year, then rent one for those times and you'll come out ahead. But if you're renting five times a month, then having your own car starts to make a lot more economic sense. |
Quoting N1120A (Reply 4): He flies Turkish Airlines |
Quoting mig21umd (Reply 18): Shouldn't he be flying Qatar Airway's |
Quoting kl838 (Reply 11): Barcelona flew together on an Iberia A330 charter |
Quoting mandala499 (Reply 28): Well, the cabin's about the same... G280 is supposed to be nicer than the G200, however, the G280 I visited was in my opinion, a let down. |
Quoting mandala499 (Reply 28): Some cheap ones (G200 and CL300s) running at $10m... It really is a buyer's market out there at the moment... |
Quoting B777LRF (Reply 17): The bloke has a boyfriend in Morocco, I suppose it makes it easier for him to pay a visit. |
Quoting SCQ83 (Reply 13): but Cristiano Ronaldo was well known in Spain for flying Torrejon-Rabat almost on a daily basis in order to visit his bo... sorry his "cuddling friend" Badr Hari. |
Quoting hilram (Reply 14): With the range of 3400nm it could still go TATL right? |

Quoting blueflyer (Reply 34): No one's ever rapped about a Challenger... A G200 is not a G6, but it's like it... kinda! |
Quoting Mir (Reply 27): |
Quoting foxxray (Reply 36): |
Quoting 26point2 (Reply 39): Quoting Mir (Reply 27): Wrong... |
Quoting foxxray (Reply 38): Quoting LCYFlyer (Reply 30): Does anyone have a registration of the G200 in question? EC-KBC |
Quoting foxxray (Reply 36): The G200 is also a "runway hog" ! The G280 is far better, thanks to its new wing. |
Quoting MarcoPoloWorld (Reply 43): Never heard of this person... Nothing to see here... move along. |
