Does anyone have timeline on when the Sat KA operating area will be extended to include Hawaii and Central / South America areas?? (Also GOM for Texas - Florida flights)

Time remaining on DTV contract before these units join the PDE system?

New F seat for NG fleet ... in guessing to start in 2017?

Thank you to all the contributors to this thread. I always look forward to the updates.

I saw A320 N498UA on a gate yesterday and thought 'Hmm, we only have 97 of these things'. So I looked at the list and there's no N450UA. Anyone per chance know why this is so??
A quick FlightAware search found no other flying machine with that reg.

There were originally 98 A320s one of them 450UA was returned to the lessor during UAs BK proceedings. It went on to fly for Blue Wings and several other airlines in Iran.
I know the voices in my head aren't real but sometimes their ideas are just awesome!!!

It was stored by UA in 2003 then was with Blue Wings, Mahan Airlines and is now with Iran Air as EP-IEC.

N450UA was one of the several lease rejections effective July 3, 2003 as part of the BK process.

Thanks everyone for the quick response. I thought it might be BK related but seemed odd it was only one A320 rather than several.

Many thanks for the update!

Just a small addition to what you've posted:

Over the last several days, from ramp level at IAH, I've noticed that the "OPERATED BY: CALA014A" decals that used to adorn ex-CO aircraft on the rear lower fuselage -- both narrow and widebodies -- have been removed.

I'm glad that this finally has happened, although I'm not quite sure what brought it about.

Was it something to do with the SCEPTRE migration? That is, moving everything to one MX database?

I've just noticed a minor but odd thing; the last new 739ER Reg# N38479 but the Ship# shows 0879 rather than 0479. Typo? or what?

Balls 6 just flew EWR-MCO for a ETOPS Verification flight. Will do another one going back to EWR., along with a Autoland. Could stand to hit some rain along the way. Then off to HKG.

Balls 31 should go into Induction on the 16th of Dec, and be completed on the 22nd. With Xmas-New Years coming up, don't know if she will go into service right away, or wait till '17.

#4891 inducts in Jan '17, then goes to conformity check, should be done by the 30th of Jan.
#4892 inducts in Feb '17.

Saw it today at EWR. It did a domestic EWR-MCO-EWR run which is normally serviced by an international configured 752. Great to see it back. Any word on who was involved in the repair. Was it handled by United alone or was a Boeing team brought out to help?

Deferring? Not so much as converting to four more 738s next year and 61 73MAXs somewhere down the line.

United mentioned their product upgrade of Domestic first in the call yesterday. Of course the A319/A320 fleet is nearing substantially complete of such mods. Any word on when the Boeing fleet will be started and finished? I find the old product comfortable although not very pleasing visually and a bit tight on leg spacing on some models (I'm 6'4")

Neither FlightAware or other databases (that I know of) show N58031 as having flown yet. But there is usually a time delay for updates so it could have had its B1 in the last few hours... it certainly should be ready by now.
Ships 0032 and 33 are are the front and back ends of the PAE FAL so things are moving along nicely.

Has it been painted yet? I would have figured we'd have seen a picture of it out of the paint shop. Could possibly lend credence to the rumors of a modified livery? It would be nice to see if true, but I won't be holding my breath.

That's a little bizarre. 1 in the 787 wave or 2 in the United standard makes sense, but not both.

Excellent! I think the 787 livery will be a really nice touch. It's a minor enhancement, but it makes the livery look much newer. I'm glad they're doing a Star aircraft as well.

What is the point? Don't get me wrong, I love the livery...so put it on every plane. I kind of understood it as a special thing on the 787 to promote that plane, but when it goes to other planes and not even the whole fleet of them, I don't get what United is trying to say with the livery.

I think it's supposed to "commemorate United and Boeing's long lasting commitment to each other" or some BS like that. I remember that's the reason they gave for it on the day they unveiled the 787 livery alongside a big 737MAX order. That's partly why I've never really been a fan of the 787 wave.

I would bet one of the 777-300ERs with the special wavy livery will be N59043 since that will be the 1,500th 777.

So it seems the 777-300ER is flying now. I was a bit premature in my previous post. Where are the photos? I can't seem to find a photo or a video anywhere.

The 77W doesn't appear to be in the schedule yet. So I presume that flights like EWR to HK that currently show a 777-200 in July might change if that is the 77W's first route? I presume no word on where she is first going?

Also, I am so curious when the 737's will get the new First Class seat. I just booked a flight from LAX to IAD and it's 5.5 hours on a 737-800. That's a long ride for those old seats!

That's an interesting point. At what point will UA load the 77W routes. With such a quick ramp up of units on hand, wouldn't they be better off selling these seats now? Or are they selling them by increasing inventory, but not changing the a/c type? If not, lots of FF seats available soon!

I assume that they have some designed rotation of aircraft that will take place to be able to accept these into the fleet. If 77Ws are mostly going to EWR then sCO 777-200ERs will go to sUA hubs to help retire 744s and also to shift sUA 772s into domestic service. I'm guessing some slack is also built into the schedule to allow time for 77W integration and ramp up.

I think I remember hearing sometime 2nd or 3rd quarter of next year.
