Norwegian Starts PMI-BCN And PMI-MAD

Norwegian expands its domestic offer in Spain with flights from Palma de Mallorca to Madrid and Barcelona. Both destinations start in June; flights are already on sale.

PMI-MAD 3x daily

PMI-BCN 2x daily

6:25 7:15
15:50 16:40

PMI-MAD is currently offered by Air Europa, Iberia Express and Ryanair, while PMI-BCN is flown by Air Europa, Ryanair and Vueling.

MAD-PMI is 1-hour flight and BCN-PMI even less. Everybody flies those routes multiple daily. Otherwise there is no way to compete. I think BCN-PMI is even very conservative without a third evening flight (like MAD)

Is this a seasonal base like easyJet recently announced or year round? I suppose if it's year round it gives these frames something to do in the low season when there's less leisure traffic to PMI from Northern Europe.

Somehow they are taking Air Berlin's position there. I wonder if they will connect at PMI? They do connections in AGP between Canarias and Northern Europe (very interesting in winter when is low-season in Málaga but high-season in Canarias, so people can fly ARN-AGP-LPA, for instance).

I reckon they probably will, as they do at other airports in Spain. It won't be on a large scale though. From what they've done previously, they probably won't time the departures to connect like Air Berlin did, but they'll sell through tickets if they can.

Norwegian is expanding quite aggressively BCN-BIO and BCN-PMI.

BIO was a Vueling monopoly, and PMI is Vueling territory as well!.

And those expansions for PMI come in low-season, so I wouldn't be surprised for further expansion in S17, and a bloodbath against Vueling.

Very interesting development of Norwegian in the Spanish domestic market.
