Are the 75Ls the newest of the 757s or are there newer jets in the fleet.

It looks like they are. Because most of the AA757s that have flown to Europe have their reg starting as N17..., N18... or N19... and those are among the newest 757s built for American. They date from the early 2000s.

Check this page, it might help:

I would think because none has had a D Check yet since the new scheme was introduced earlier this year.

That seems like a standard thats not being applied to the other ac types. Surely AA hasnt done 148 D checks on the planes that have been painted so far.

I'm rather curious what AA has in store for the Hawaii ETOPS subfleet. Retirement, being painted in the new livery, what type would replace it, etc. The current A321 doesn't have the range that the 757 does and the 738 doesn't have the uplift. I'd wager they're waiting on the NEO/MAX before replacing the Hawaii subfleet.

Just a theory here, but maybe AA wants to spend money on repainting the aircraft that have a longer time left in the fleet? they probably don't want to spend as much money on a 10-year-old 757 as, say, a brand new 737-800, because the 737 will be flying a lot longer to earn the cost of the repaint.

Again, just a theory.

I flew ORD-IND yesterday and noticed my American Connection E145 was painted pure white with a blue tail. There were no graphics whatsoever. I wasn't sure if they were prepping it for the paint overhaul or if they were just moved from a different airline and they didn't have time to paint it yet.
I'm not complaining, I'm critiquing...

Chataugua has a few E-145s painted in those base colors. I seen them a lot operating for US in CLT and DL at LGA. UA and AA also have some operating in the colorscheme. I don't think that it's waiting to be painted, it's just easier to switch from airline to airline as needed without having to repaint it.

I heard the same thing last week, and possibly speeding up the MD-80 retirements. They recently retired 5 MD-80s in one week.

Looking at the LAX schedule, we're now only seeing 4x S80 per day: 1x to AUS and 3x to STL. STL seems to be the only destination with S80 service come this spring.

If age was strictly the case, then some of the 777's wouldn't be painted as well. Some 757s and T7's were delivered in the same year. It still seems weird to me that planes used on specific intl routes wouldn't receive the new livery.

So some recap from the last thread:

N395AN is in getting painted, so we are awaiting either the new OneWorld scheme, or or maybe one less OneWorld jet in the skies.

I just got a Skymarks AA 777-300ER 1:200 model. It is a behemoth and I love it! I hope this livery stays! It has really grown on me! It's definitely one of those things you have to see in person to appreciate.

I have a Gemini AA 737-800 NC on my wishlist too!

These are the ones least likely to get repainted. For each of these, as the updates continue, only the denominator will change and of course will only get smaller. The numerator will likely stay at zero.

It's been now almost one year the new livery was introduced. Don't forget that new airplane types and variants have been delivered since then: the A319, the ERJ-175 and the 77W, plus additional brand new 738s.

For those, and the A321 coming up soon, the numerator will always be equal to the denominator.

RE: New AA Painted Aircraft - Part 3

Sun Oct 20, 2013 3:35 pm

I notice that there are 21 763s painted, but I'm a bit confused- N349AN is showing 348 as the tail number. The correct tail number for N349AN is 349, as there is another 763 with the tail number 348. Which is the one in the new livery?

Thank you so much the updates! When I go to work, I use this list to see if I'll be working aboard a plane in the new colors.

Since N395AN (763) is out of the paint shop, any word on whether it's still sporting the oneworld livery over the new paint? I am anxious to see the oneworld livery with the new scheme!

It's official, it wasn't reprinted into a new OneWorld livery, N395AN got the regular livery.

Just a question about the fleet. Does Eagle still fly the ATR? I recall seeing them in MIA in the recent past, don't remember exactly when. Didn't SJU see them also? If they (Eagle) do, I know it's the only turboprop they still fly. The Saabs are gone, that I know. And so are the Shorts, Metroliners and Jetstreams.

The ATR's are all gone, I believe the last flight was in April

First A321 should be painted in a few days over on the other thread: American Airlines First A321 (by KarelXWB Oct 19 2013 in Civil Aviation)

I wonder how the name will look on the side? I remember there were some people unhappy the way American appeared on the A319.

Looks like N757AN went into the paint shop a few days ago.

It will be a very sad day when the last 772 gets repainted into the new livery. I think that the AA 772 in the old livery is the best looking plane to grace the skies, period.

So if I'm understanding correctly, a 77W that's still presumably three slots away from being delivered is already painted and flying around?

The pic has to be a fake. Why in the world would AA bother painting the fuselage in stark white when it would make more sense and look better just to use the grey base that every other normal-liveried plane wears? And why is this the only photo available, with nothing on the AA Facebook or Twitter?

Makes no sense.

-------------------------------------
So, I wrote all that, and then started looking and it seems like AA has tweeted sort of a semi-confirmation of it? Wondering if that's a case of the Twitter operator not being up to speed.

Thoughts?

Hmmm. I seem to remember reading on the Oneworld site a few years ago that the base of the group livery had to be either white or bare metal (as American were back then). White would make sense here.

Woah, who changed the tail on that CX plane?!   That look good, though and I'm glad they supplemented the loss of a OneWorld heavy with the addition of a BIGGER OneWorld heavy.

Are they still adding 737s to their fleet? It looks like they decided not to get anymore of those. It has been at 221 aircraft for a while now.

The pace of Eagle aircraft repainting is still stubbornly slow compared to mainline. I had hoped once the summer schedule was pulled down and there was a bit more slack in the fleet we'd see ERJ and CR7 painting speed up.

Still, this is moving rather quickly. I expected the rebranding to be rolled out much more slowly when it was first announced, but AA seems pretty determined to get it done quickly.

What i don't understand is that if they are only going to repaint half of the 767300 aircraft's, why not repaint the younger ones. they have repainted some aircraft's that were brought online in the early 90s.

Eagle is really low on lift right now. The fleet is pulled pretty thin now that the 135s are leaving the fleet. It was hoped that two aircraft at a time could be painted over the winter low schedule, which starts next week, but I think there are too many routes and too few aircraft to make it work.
