Quoting RCS763AV (Reply 3): I wish this route all success! Can't believe they jumped the gun on CM with this one! |
Quoting winGl3t (Reply 2): It was about time for huge leisure destination like CUZ to get connected to a major hub like BOG |
Quoting 2travel2know2 (Reply 4): CM doesn't have any equipment suitable to operate at CUZ and LPB altitudes. |
Quoting LAX772LR (Reply 6): CM still has 73Gs, at least for now. They could do it more or less equivalently to the A319 being used here. |
Quoting 2travel2know2 (Reply 7): CM still has B737-700 but none of CM aircraft has the kit to operate at CUZ or LPB. |
Quoting RCS763AV (Reply 9): I'm saying this because currently, AA's 757s struggle to make it to MIA from LPB (which is just a tad further and higher than the new CUZ will be), and have to stop at VVI (also for commercial reasons). However, the airport's concessionaire and Proinversión have announced that this new airfield will be MIA-capable. (Wonder if AA's A319s will make it by then). |
Quoting OB1504 (Reply 10): Didn't AA briefly operate MIA-CUZ-LIM-MIA with a 757 also? |
Quoting superjeff (Reply 11): TY-CUZ should be well within the range of PTY, but I don't know how the altitude would affect 738's of CM. |
Quoting RCS763AV (Reply 12): On another note, the 7:44 AM departure from BOG is not ideal for domestic connections. Only the main cities will be able to connect onto this flight. Yet again, the demand from secondary cities to Cusco direct has to me marginal at most. |
Quoting RCS763AV (Reply 9): Anyhow, this is a very cool route. IMHO, CUZ is one of the most underserved airports regarding international ops in the world. Think of the amount of pax that go through LIM just to get to the inca capital! |
Quoting RCS763AV (Reply 12): CM has 73Gs! How penalized can it leave CUZ if it can make it to SFO (almost twice as long a distance)... |
Quoting RCS763AV (Reply 12): Could it be that CM just doesn't see a commercial appeal for this route? |
Quoting a320fan (Reply 14): Why 5 hours on the ground in CUZ? |
Quoting a320fan (Reply 14): Why 5 hours on the ground in CUZ? |
Quoting 2travel2know2 (Reply 16): AV planning a tag-on to AQP or LPB? |
Quoting RCS763AV (Reply 12): CM has 73Gs! How penalized can it leave CUZ if it can make it to SFO |
Quoting RCS763AV (Reply 12): Yet again, CM doesn't operate to LPB either, presumably for the same reason. What is this specification we're talking about that the 73Gs need in order to handle those high airports? DL's and UA's 73G's handle themselves pretty well from BOG to New York (1+ hour longer than the hypothetical flight). Even CM* flies MEX-BOG (4+ hour flight, so a slightly longer flight time) on one of those 73Gs, both high airports with limitations (2300 meters for MEX and 2600 for BOG). |
