LH moving the MUC flight to the morning has been an issue this summer and largely responsible for 300 issues.
Air Canada were down at D because of Vancouver departure is delayed and there has been other delays with LX/LH spending an extra 60 and 30 minutes on stand. Had they departed on time at 11.05 and 11.15 the late incoming YYZ which arrived at 11.20 could of had a stand at 300 gates. The facilities at D are far better than what is offered at some of the big European airports so I don't see people been to annoyed.
A more impotent issue is EIR flights using 200 gates again, currently 1 or 2 now using them in the morning however they have also started to board via 400 gates again.
Personally don't feel long haul should be down at D, even though the facilities are good generally, I agree. What I'm concerned about is slapstick solutions like bussing, the downstairs gates in Pier D, and basically all of Pier A. T2 and Pier D were a new departure in facilities and planning at DUB, and feels like we're going backwards a bit now in terms of providing decent, long term solutions to gate and stand capacity.
I agree in principal about long haul however I also feel it's not time for the daa to go flash the cash when these airlines are recently happy with the situation whether passengers like it or not. Big boys like EK/BA bus long haul passengers which is the point I am making.
Extra T2 stands will be available soon which should help aircraft parking and possible boarding at peak hours.

** - These carriers were at 300 gates before and taking SAS, DY most of those flights are off peak so they are not been forced to use 100. BA LHR flights is a strange one as it was just the 2 or 8 down at 200 but now all of them but I suspect that's BA choice.
*** - Previously at 200 and 300 gates and again off peak services so by choice using 100 gates.
