Looks a little bit like those purses someone was making out of the old seats.

But on a serious note, it's great to see Southwest freshening its brand. As an adamant anti-Southwest flyer who never set a foot on a WN plane until 2014, I can say that the rebranding did actually make me think twice about my purchasing habits.

At last a proper stewardess uniform. Very Star-Trek, she looks like the female edition of captain Kirk. She also looks better now in general, sure of herself. That's the reason why I liked my female supervisors: how shrewd they were. The chief supervisor at the gate agents liked me because I admitted my mistakes. As for the male uniform no comment...

I love the image of Sandra Force today juxtaposed with herself in 1971. She looks fantastic, although I prefer the dress alone to the dress with the jacket.

Looks great fits their brand well and has style. With so much employee involvement sure to be a winner with staff. What's their current uniform look like?

I think the '71 outfit is a cape over hotpants, no? Not sure they ever wore that in flight.

Too many zippers going on. I wonder how that's going to look on those who have not kept their figure like Sandra.

Doesn't look that comfortable.

Well there are more FA options than those shown.
Having seen the gamut, some options seem a bit cumbersome and some of the ground uniforms not really ideal for job intended for IMO.
Riddle: Which lasts longer, a start-up airline or a start-up football league?

Polos, pants, and shorts are still options... If someone wants to appear as a slob, that option is still there.

Off the rack stock Land's End pieces. Everything is navy, blue, and white.

Hate 'em. I'll say it. Down right awful. Of course, it's my own opinion which is no more valuable than that of anyone else. But just in case anyone missed the point I was making: Hate 'em. Absolutely hideous.

I couldn't agree more.

The pilots trade in navy for black next year. Why? Just because I guess.

You may hate them, but at least they make SOME kind of style statement vs. the banal, drab uniforms of today (and past 20 years...)

It was time for an update! Also, the navy pants/bomber jacket look is VERY dated. Guessing that is the reason for the change.

Thanks WN, for using someone over 30 in your uniform previews. I'm not crazy about the dress, but I really think it's classy to use her, especially with the juxtaposition of her in the uniform of when the company was just beginning. It's a very respectful thing to do. While most other carriers would no more feature their senior employees in any kind of ad, WN, once again, shows they are of a different mindset.

The male uniform is the worst. Makes you look like an unfriendly enforcer. The female one looks like a uniform from a bad SciFi flick. I say go back to the gogo boots & have fun again.

i've flown WN since 1993 and I think their current uniform is the best, it looks classy and current. I'm not at all fond of the new color scheme. Quite hideous.

Southwest airlines would like to announced that our airlines is now called Southwest spaceship. We will be serving you with people from outer space but they speak your language. Sit back and enjoy as we flew you out of this world. LOL.
Oh my God! That uniform looks awful! awful! I think a proper uniform should be trendy but also please consider the average body size of your crew - slim or bigger size please. Don't just use a mannequin.

I'm pretty certain it will eventually grow on me, but the first thing I thought of when I saw the new uniform:

1. The women's: spandex...looks like an exercise garment. I think it goes better with the red jacket.
2. The men's: "Hello, your friendly mall cop with a jacket and red tie"

But to each their own.
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky."

It is a nice change nevertheless to see a bold and simple design and not yet another secretary dress...

I mostly fly SW, AA and UA on a regular basis and frankly I cannot remember the last time i really cared about what the FAs wore nor can I really recall which airlines wear what uniform.

I do however remember how they act. If new, stylish uniforms makes the FAs feel better about their jobs and that reflects in their level of service than more power to them.

The shorts should be retired except for ramp and provisioning , that would be an improvement

There would literally be a revolt with the hardcore shorts/sneaker wearing frontline employees.

You can't be serious! United's uniforms are the worst, IMHO. They look like bargain basement pieces off a JC Penney's sales rack. (Although I do like the blue dress.) Even United doesn't like them...they are already working on new pieces.

Given how crowded the United concourses are at O'Hare, I'm surprised they could shoot that photo during the day.

At least the photo manages to capture one of the retail kiosks that was crammed into the path of passenger circulation. "This hallway built with thousands of passengers in mind is the perfect place for a Cibo Express."

Unfortunately it isn't just ORD with this disease. DFW did it with TRIP and Terminal D.
