I like the iPad mount and the headrest looks interesting. The green color looks nice up close, but the whole thing looks a little dated otherwise. I think the beige/tan wasn't the best choice.

Until the seat in front suddenly reclines, sending the ipad (and drink) tumbling into your lap!

I love the color of the economy seat fabric, but I do not like the black color that they chose for the back of the seats... I wish they had chosen a lighter color. Makes the cabin look rather gloomy. And dark colors always give the feeling of less space.

That really will help prevent the Y-class head slump into your neighbouring passenger's shoulder. Great improvement on the ones already on offer in NZ and QF etc that tilt up on either side.

How bout they spend another HKD or two and spice up their catering a little? CX premium catering is shockingly bad compared to their competitors.

I see two troubling elements in J, compared to CX's current product: the shelf got smaller, and the anti-privacy "slit" on the side seems to have gotten deeper.

Not good.

Some of those photos are from CX that have not been attributed correctly by that website (eg http://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_H...perience/in-flight-experience.html ). No big deal I would think from from a CX point of view unless someone started charging for therm, it comes confusing for third parties then on who owns the copyright.

In my opinion, the new Economy cabin looks bland and boring - nothing special at all!

The shelf looks about the same to me.

I think the "slit" as you call it looks deeper because as far as I can tell the partition is larger at head level.

There's also a new storage compartment between the seat itself and the outside armrest.

Looks really nice across all cabins.

Such a great example of how First, Business, Economy became Business, Premium Economy, Economy.

I have to grab a ride on the 350 soon. Saw it take off tonight for TPE.

I flew on a Silkair 738 recently. Their economy class doesn't have IFE, only streaming, yet their tables don't have iPad holders.

Sitting in 14K myself now before pushing back to TPE. All sorts of minor improvements, including better styling, underseat (limited) storage. Nice separate IFE hand control. Shoe cabinet now under the shelf.

But:

Like all new aircraft, horrible white LED task lights. Why not go for a warmer light?

The slit is indeed bigger. Such a sad mistake, if the shell was complete it would have been so wonderfully private.

I still think the shelf is shorter.

Question about Premium Economy. Those lowering armrests, are they only for aisle seats? Or do any of the other seats in the middle block of four have lowering armrests as well?

Sure doesn't look it, if you look at TheDesignAir image it looks that middle two of block of four seats the arm rests do not retract.

Thanks - yeah I saw that. I was just wondering if the rows further back do retract. The armrests in the old PE do lift in the middle two seats (except for the first row) so let's hope CX does something similar with this iteration.
