At IAH (Closest large airport to me) we see a British Airways 777 several times a week and of course Continental. Air France flew a 777 for a while but now its back to an A340 last time I checked.

In Denver, United and British Airways.

We have a few times seen Continental ones for equip subs or diversions, but they are not scheduled, sadly!

In Sydney we currently get the following:
Lauda 772, Emirates 772, China Southern 772, Thai 773, Singapore 773 and Air China 772 (although at present it is all 744).
We have also had Egyptair 772 now 340, Korean 772,773 currently 744 but back to 773 in winter.
Also had the Boeing demo 777,BA 777 on Boeing test program, CX 772 on route proving, MH diverted from Brisbane, SQ and Thai 772 in place of normal 773 and an Emirates 773 during the Olympics.
Hopefully we will get more !!!!

No. At DFW, the only regularly scheduled 777 operators are AA and BA. DL may have flown one in as a publicity or on a substitution, but they do not have any regular scheduled 777's into DFW.

At Newark, Continental 777's fly to Tokyo, Hong Kong
(from March 1), London/Gatwick, Paris, Frankfurt, Tel
Aviv, and Manchester (rome and Milan also, until 3/1).
Malaysian Airlines fly 777's weekly from Newark to the
Gulf (Dubai) and then on to Kuala Lumpur. United has
777 service from Newark once daily to Denver and to
London/Heathrow.

At JFK, American, United, Air France, and Egyptair
all fly 777's on selected AA flights to Heathrow and
soon to Paris CDG, United to LHR on one of the three
daily JFK-LHR frequencies, AF to Paris, and to Cairo
on Egyptair. Delta has flown 777's to Paris during the
2000 Summer travel season.

At SFO, the following airlines fly 777's to and from the airport:

United Airlines (UA)--major 777 presence, thanks to many USA transcon, SFO to Hawaii and international flights using the 777-200 and 777-200ER. UA 777's are often serviced at the UA maintainance base across San Francisco Bay at OAK.

All-Nippon Airways (NH)--regular daily flight from NRT.

Korean Air (KE)--regular daily flight from SEL (soon ICN).

I expect in the future the following airlines to fly the 777 in and out of SFO:

Asiana Airways (OZ)--regular daily from from ICN starting this October (already confirmed).

Singapore Airlines (SQ)--regular daily flight from ICN on the SIN-ICN-SFO route either late this year or early 2002.

American Airlines (AA)--USA transcon flights from SFO to JFK and MIA probably some time in 2002.

Delta Airlines (DL)--USA transcon flights from SFO to JFK and ATL starting the second half of 2002.

British Airways (BA)--possible third daily flight from SFO to LHR (BA runs two flights already with 747-400's).

-United Airlines (Santiago, Buenos Aires, some other SA cities)

-American Airlines (Dallas, Paris, London, Buenos Aires, some other Latin cities; once in a while to LAX and Madrid)

-Lauda (Munich, Dusseldorf on the occasion)

-Air France (standard service is 742; on the ocassion. Second daily to begin next month, so 777 service might become the norm)

-Delta (on the ocassion)

Starting sometime in March: BA-772 daily service from LGW. Past visitors: DL-772 in Dec. '99, Fiesta Bowl charter, missed out on seeing that. Sad Also, UA-772 made a surprise visit a few years ago.

At Detroit, as of right now just British Airways which switches between 742, 744 and 777 daily. Seems like every day they use a different aircraft.

Seoul Kimpo
Korean Air, so many times for SFO, SYD, HKG and so on.
Air France, Paris 4 weekly.
Singapore Airlines, 7 weekly?
Thai Airways, several times for BKK.
Cathay Pacific, 14 weekly?
Air China, daily for Beijing.
And New comer: Asiana.

Modesto2: KE doesn't operate 777 for LAX immediately. When MD-11 and 777 are introduced, KE operated them on SEL-TYO-LAX (KE001/2) route. (I know that 777 was operated earlier on SEL-SYD.)

PAE:
Every airline that flies the 777 has had one fly out of PAE  Smile

BFI:
Boeing has a test aircraft and many deliveries are via BFI.

SEA:
United and, I believe, American, have regular scheduled service but I am not sure. The other big airlines serve with 747s...

At LAX we currently get United Airlines, American Airlines, Korean Air, China Southern and EgyptAir. Starting in March we will also get Air France. SFO will soon lose NH 777 but get Aeroflot instead. The start date for Asiana 777 to SFO is 16Aug this year. Nothing yet on SQ 777 to SFO but I agree that this will happen wihin the next year. The777Man

I forgot to mention that LAX also will get El Al 777 starting 22Jun this year. This will be a seasonal flight and the Air France 777s are seasonal as well; they will switch back to a 744 starting at the end of Oct01. The777Man

Only once, Boeing's 777 (it was in Boeing livery so I m not sure which airline it ended up with) landed and took-off at FSD when there was strong crosswind during FAA's certification test.

I think NH may switch back to the 747-400 between SFO and NRT for the summer high season. The 777-200ER's from NH will be back in the fall.

There are no 777 services in POS - the only airline serving Trinidad which owns a 777 fleet is AA and the route from MIA does not justify the type. Tobago (TAB), however, gets 2 BA 777-200ER services from LGW and GND per week.

I'll see a 777 at ABQ when pigs fly and the sky turns green. I can't wait til I finish school so I can get the heck out of here and move somewhere that has an airport with more variety.

You guys can have your stinking 777s. I want to know who else out there gets DC-4s? DC-6s? DC-7s? C-46s? All on the same day, every day?? We do here in FAI. But seriously...

777's in Fairbanks Alaska? Not lately, and I seriously doubt we ever will on a scheduled basis. However during the winters of '98 & '99, 777s were a common sight at FAI as Boeing was conducting cold weather flight tests. At least three different aircraft, 777-200s in Boeing & British Airways colors, then a 777-300 in Emirates colors. For a while the prototype 737-800 accompanied the 777-300. Interestingly the weather here was quite mild (by Fairbanks winter standards) during the 777-300's visit; the Boeing folks were hoping for one of our legendary cold snaps (temps of -45F and lower) but it never even got below zero. What a shame (for them)! I think they eventually went out somewhere in eastern Canada where the weather was colder. Tried to get the Boeing people to let me on a test flight but as the aircraft were all Experimental it just wasn't kosher. Got a tour of the interiors though.
For awhile when China Southern began nonstop 777 LAX-Guangzhou service, we here at DAL in Fairbanks were told to expect possible diversions for refueling as we were the #1 alternate airport. But alas it has never happened.

747X Vs. A380 Debate

Fri Feb 23, 2001 3:32 am

This debate is interesting. From the appearance aspect, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally think both are neat looking aircraft. I still think Concorde is the most elegant airliner there is. But airlines don't care about appearance. They care about the aircraft being the best for the job, what will make them money. I think the A380 has a few faults. First, cargo space is limited. The A380 can hold only four more LD-3 containers than a 747-400 in it's lower hold. 150 more people's luggage in four LD-3's? No room for extra cargo. However, the A380 does hold more volume in the freighter version. Yet, these are two different species. The A380 fits package carriers needs better than the 747X Stretch, but the A380 will not hold over sized cargo (10ft high pallets), nor can it load very long cargo through the nose like the 747X Stretch Frieghter. I'm not saying the 747X is better, it just fills a different need. The 747X will also be approximately 150,000 lbs lighter than the A380. Another disadvantage is that the A380 will need all new ground support equipment. The 747X will be able to use existing hardware. All this means more money earned and more money saved for the operater. Another thing I have not scene is information on crew rest areas on the A380. Has anybody heard anything on this? Boeing has some intersting proposals on their overhead space utitalization. I compared these facts on both Boeing's and Airbus' sites.

Yes, I like Boeing aircraft, but I also like Airbus Aircraft. The thing I don't like about Airbus is their attitude. Boeing concentrates on the market, and states their facts. Airbus seems hellbent on "beating Boeing". That will give them tunnel vision and will get them in trouble with the A380. Looking foward to the replies!

I am sure there is more 777s flying to CDG...but these are what I have seen myself
Delta, Continental, and of course Air France.
I think I might have seen American. And then also one time Singapore. I guess most asian airlines use their 747s for this route or A340s. BA does not fly big aircrafts to CDG. I have been in so many airports these past months, cant remember if i saw the Emirates in CDG or elsewhere.
