Yeah, I like it too.

However, I think the no.2 engine should be blue as well, it now looks a little bit if something was missing.

Best regards

One of the top tails in the world but the all white fuselage could have used a bit of blue as well.

Overall I give it a 7 out of 10.

Finnair must be one of the most ambiguos airlines ever, changing their livery so frequently (although not much at a time).
AY should have kept the livery seen on their 757s. That is the best. I would love to see that livery on a MD11.

This foto is even better and I agree even the engine n°2 should have been painted.

It sure is a giant improvement over the old livery, and I like it. But I also agree that #2 should have been painted blue too. I still think it's a little bit too much white, but I'll live with it.

At the present AY actually has four liveries; The old with the flag, the leisure flight livery (B757), the "intermediate" livery and the new one.

The flag livery is really boring, and I'm glad we are getting rid of it.

The B757 livery is only used on charter- and so called leisure flights. In fact, the B757:s are used only for charters.

The "intermediate" livery (my own name) appeared out of nowhere. There was no new corporate image announced or anything, suddenly it just showed up. The livery is used on the ATR-72´s and the Airbuses that was delivered before the new livery was introduced.

Now we are waiting for our new uniforms that we will get in about a year. Considering I wear one five days a week, I'm really curious.

yes, that's pretty good. I like it too. It's way better than the blue strips it used to have on its tail.

I think they should have painted the winglets, but it's still good Smile.

Hey, Red Panda, the "blue strips" on the tail was the Finnish flag!

I think it looks great but the blue stripe should go all the way fuselage like the old one and the winglets should have finnair round logo and the engine say like "Finnair md-11" then it would be super!!Hope to get the new uniforms too! Big grin

Love the tail, but I think the fuselage could use a bit more coloring on it, like a cheatline or something. Then it would be one of the best liveries in the skies.

Ahhh...  Love

My namesake looks wonderful with a fresh coat of paint does it not?

I would have to say that I was disappointed with the #2 engine being white and the "Finnair MD-11" not painted on the tail... the fuselage does need a splash of color, it would have to be the Finnair blue on the engine cowlings and the tail though...

I hear OH-LXA should be in Finnair's hands quite soon... that'll complete the whole A320 family (as of now) in the Finnair fleet...

The number two engine should have been blue.
I also think they should have a blue cheatline along the fueslage. Why must all airlines have white as main color?

.. I think the colorscheme works beautifully. Of course beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, and tastes differ..

Looking at that pic makes me really feel like it's a *Finnish* plane. Very traditional & modern at the same time. White snow, blue lakes. Sounds classy and cliché but hey, that's how I see it.. And I think it looks beautiful.  Smile

I think a cheatline would only break the charm of it.

As for the #2 engine, I'd guess they wanted it to appear as a part of the fuselage (white), instead of a part of the tail (blue).. Don't know which would be best, though.

HMMM... most have given nothing but praise lately concerning Finnair's new livery.

I remember months ago most views were reactionary, and as it were, there was much discontent-- especially regarding the (then) funky tail.

Yet now, what is this I see? The tail is lovely?

Time and again, people are always shocked by change. You watch as the new bmi livery gains converts more and more naysayers into bmi cheerleaders.

CHEERS,

Hey guys, it suddenly occurred to me...

What if (let's say, on a non trijet) the arc beneath the "F" on the tail extended down to the fuselage? How would that look? Would that make up a bit for the blandness?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Of course this modification wouldn't work well with rear-mounted engines...  Big thumbs up

RE: FINNAIR'S New MD11, Staff Opinion

Wed Feb 28, 2001 6:09 pm

Every weekday we have a "Question of the Day" on Finnair´s intranet, and today the question was "What would best suit Olga?" with the alternatives being "white #2 engine", blue #2 engine" or "corporate signature on engine" (corporate signature being the "Finnair" text). The responses (at present):

White #2 engine: 10,96%
Blue #2 engine: 44,20%
Corporate signature on #2: 40,76%
Can´t say: 4,08%

There where some pictures how it would look, and my favorite was the signature, with the blue one a close runner up. It seems that most AY staff agree with me, and most of you, that a white #2 was not the best option.
