ANA To Dus?

Thu Mar 15, 2001 2:11 am

Some rumours at Duesseldorf International says that ANA will start service between Tokyo and Dusseldorf on B767-300. Anyone knows more?  Wow!

sounds rather strange.
some years ago, some asian airline, i believe it was asiana, was looking at services to dusseldorf because regarding their planned route FRA was saturated and DUS would still provide enough high-yield traffic, but somehow this never came to be.

well, technically a 763 could make it nonstop form NRT to DUS. i flew once LAX-MUC on a 763 and that was pretty full (i don´t know for cargo carried on that flight in the bellym, though) and that flight is longer than NRT-DUS, so i assume a 763 could actually make it. but i don´t know for other circumstances, headwinds, etc. which must be taken into account. i don´t believe there´s ever been a regular nonstop 763 flight between japan and western europe, so somehow i tend to believe that the 763 is not the ideal plane for such a routing. i could be wrong, though...

in addition, ANA recently stated that they currently want to expand more on medium haul routes, intra-asian routes... that´s were they could compete more easily with JAL because JAL already has an intensive international network. so that makes this statement seem unusual, in my eyes, however, i´d really like to see ANA increasing flights to germany.
hope we´ll get some japanese carrier soon in MUC!!!

It would be truly great if ANA would come here... I doubt it though.

AFAIK, Emirates will serve DUS (with A310, later with A332) effective March 31.

ANA served FRA with 767s in the mid 90s. SK fly CPH - NRT with 767-equipment.

Emirates will start with a A310-300 low density on 27 March 2001. This will be upgraded to a A330-200 low density on 1 Feb 2001. Keep an eye out - Emirates may from time to time substitute the A310 with the A300-600R or the A330 until the formal changeover happens on 1 Feb 2001.

It will be a daily nonstop operation DXB-DUS-DXB.

At least it would make some sense regarding the Japanese community in DUS area
